Over two millenia, Haile Unlikely's rock steady beat has ignited reggae fires in the New York metro area, playing regularly at the hottest live music venues like Manhattan's S.O.B's and the Downtown on Long Island. The band has opened for reggae greats Toots & The Maytals, Luciano, Sister Carol, Ras Karby, Errol Moore, Yellowman, Ricky Grant and many others. Specializing in Hamptons stylee reggae parties, HU regularly headlines both the Hamptons Reggae Festival in Sag Harbor and the BEEFSTOCK tm. International Reggae Festival on Long Island and at all of the late great Southampton College Earthfests. As Long Island's official home grown Reggae Ambassadors, Haile Unlikely produces a high-energy groove with sizzling hot rock steady and dance hall reggae riddims.

It all starts with two local nitwits, Warren A. Babylon pronounced 'war inna babylon' and Ras Chrispy Let's learn more about these 'talented' performers...


Warren A. Babylon - Rhythm Guitar, Cuisinart, Wok, Crock Pot, Weber Kettle, Brinkman Smoke n' Grill - charcoal of course - and Vocals.


Band leader Warren A Babylon handles most of the duties upfront, shielding the rest of the band behind his ENORMOUS sound, gut ... and ego. Fans say Warrens voice actually sounds BETTER after about two hours of screaming onstage, when it becomes as rough as a Harley on a gravel road in a hailstorm. His rhythm guitar provides the ka-chunk-a-chunk that transforms HU into a hypnotic thrum, like Nyabinghi drums echoing through the rainforests of Jamaica.

Warren writes many of the bands original tunes, like 'Big Dreams, Small Reality' and 'Catpiss & Curry'. He also drives the van and cooks the jerk and curry.

This Keyboard King, Descendant-of-Royaty, Sound-Master & Composer remains an enigma, even to close friends and family. This versatile musician and co-founder of H.U. is an intensely private man whose background is both mysterious and transcendent. The 'snap-cracklin' pop performer has been known to become posessed with the spirit of ancient Nyabinghi warriors during his keyboard solos - inducing what loyals fans know as the 'kicking dance' incidents. Three people (and 2 keyboards) were injured by one of the spontaneous whirling kick-dances at Beefstock 1997.

The burning question around Ras Chrispy is this - How can he move those monkey-like fingers so fast? We don't care what the NATIONAL INQUIRER SAYS! This hurtful public speculation about a SIXTH FINGER is completely false, and actionable, according to our bloated attorney. When not writing hits like 'Hamptons Rasta,' the OFFICIAL SONG OF THE SOUTHAMPTON REGGAE FESTIVAL, Ras Crispy also maintains the Chrisp edge as Road Manager, Truck Wrangler, Live Sound Engineer, Pony Harness Safety Inspector and Executive Producer. His latest hit is 'SHADOW DEMOCRACY/Burning All Over the World' - a salute to those who seek global justice, true democracy and freedom. Chrispy even sat in on drums when our drummer was injured. He is now officially the 2nd best drummer in the band too!

Dread FearDem - Sax, Lead Guitar, Slide Guitar, Hawaiian Slack-Key Shirts


Recently retired from the band but now back from the bench is "Dread Feardem." A talented sax player, lead guitarist and Elvis impersonator, we were shocked and disappointed by his departure to devote more time to his wife and daughters. After tearful pleas from his wife and daughters he was sent back to the band so his poor family could get a break from the incessant practicing. Now, when the call comes in, mild mannered Dreddy runs into a phone booth, changes into a radioactive Hawaiian shirt, Les Paul and Saxophone to become DREAD FEARDEM, defender of roots and dreaded destroyer of bland corporate pop! Dready achieved 'rock-god' staus on August 12, 2005 at Black Forest Brew Haus. During 'Big Dreams, Small Reality' a group of young fans lined up right in front of Dreadie to cop a look at his screaming slide guitar licks up-close. No kidding - this is the kind of stuff you used to see in from of Jerry Garcia or Eddie Van Halen! His picture cannot be identified here for reasons of national security.


Christie DeFeo - Drums & Percussion, Vocals, production, engineering, burgers, chorizo and inspiration. Christie is also known collectively as the backup singing group 'The Eye-Cheese'

Christie has been touring the world lately as a drummer, percussionist technician and vocalist with some of the biggest bands under the sun. Why such an accomplished artist would agree to play with Haile Unlikely? - nobody knows.

Drummer Punchy Punch has electrified tens of thousands playing stadium tours with multi-platinum hotties EXPOSE. He has performed with The Persuasders, The Intruders, Sweet Georgia Brown, Roy Ayres, Marley Marl, Intensive Heat, Juan Tirado and the Modungo Orchestra, Neemo Money, Scandal-us, Frankie Paris, Joy Rider, CLAMB, and the Hip-Popped Old Man Band. Why such an accomplished artist would agree to play with Haile Unlikely? - nobody knows.


J-Roy - keyboards, vocals.

Ever since the days of Footwear circa 1990, J-Roy has been sitting in with Haile Unlikely and its predecessor entities whenever possible. Hampered by his desire to have a 'normal' life, J-Roy foundered under the hypnotic trance of Babylon and its material trappings. Like the Israelites wandering out of the desert, J-Roy has been guided by JAH, back to the promised land of loud reggae music, chaos and depravity. With the help of his wife Alinda, already an honorary band member for her prize-winning lasagna, J-Roy is back where he belongs. After another year away, J-Roy electrified the crowd at BEEFSTOCK 2007. His picture cannot be identified here for reasons of national security.



Our Secret Weapons against Babylon.


When recording, and whenever possible, we are joined by the vocalist ALINDA ASKEW, above left, and the multi-talented CC, who moves seamlessly between duties as vocalist, keyboard player, percussionist, flautist and spiritual, organic roots gyal, above center.

Alinda is semi retired now and only appears occcasionally at choice HU shows. CC is in constant demand at reggae shows and recording sessions of every style. She can be heard on her radio show "Various Grooves' every Wednesday morning on WUSB, Stony Brook 90.1 FM. Just the best music on Planet Earth - dig it.

Christie DeFeo, above right with Warren, HU drummer has performed with literally dozens of top acts and works as a drum tech for others. Christie has helped HU in the past by producing hit tracks like "KING NUKLA" and sitting in whenever available. Christie Played on our first demo back in '01 and is also a talented vocalist. Pre-production on our new hit "The Wee" begins in Autumn 2007.
