I can't believe it!
I never knew there were so many excellent places to run in NY. And, furthermore many of them are close to my own home. I was always confined to the local park until my friend showed me his copy of the NY Running Guide. I couldn't beleive all of the great places that I never knew about so close to home. I strongly recommend this book to anyone living or planning to run in New York!

Galloway's Greatest Book
I read Galloway's Book on Running and I found it to be very insightful. Although it is one of his earlier books I believe that it is one of the most helpful in terms of how to train and all of the necessary components that are essential to running well are included. I have read all of his books and have found that it is the best one. I have used the book to help me run 32 marathons including 17 in my home state, and his, New Jersey.

Micheli and Jenkins present accepted techniques for preventing, diagnosing, caring for, and rehabilitating common running injuries. Information on anatomical abnormalities and other causes of injuries (inappropriate footwear, incorrect training, etc.) precede the prevention advice and illustrated directions for various strength-training exercises. Most of the handbook thereafter consists of chapters about injuries to specific sites (feet, ankles, lower leg, etc.) that ultimately cover symptoms, concerns, treatments, recovery times, and rehabilitations of 31 common running ailments. A chapter devoted to female runners' special concerns (skeletal injuries, eating disorders, and hormonal problems) and another on nutrition round out an excellent resource. Sue-Ellen Beauregard

Hal Higdon comments on "Run Fast"

If you are a beginning runner seeking help in going a mile non-stop, or an experienced runner looking for tips on training, you will enjoy this book. It is the companion volume to Marathon: The Ultimate Training & Racing Guide. I also write regularly for Runner's World magazine and do an advice column ("Ask The Experts") for Runner's World Daily on America Online.

How to get fit and healthy despite your best intentions.
This book should be banned. Just over a year ago, I innocently picked it up with the vague idea that sometime I should start running. And what happened? Well, I started, and thanks to Bob Glover's insidious inspirational tone, I haven't stopped. Some books about running seem to give you a stitch the minute you begin reading them, but not this one. The Runner's Handbook gently coaxes you out on to the roads for ten minutes at a time, then 15, then 20, until one day you find yourself running non-stop for half-an-hour or more, three days a week. But that's not enough. Oh no. Soon, you're taking Coach Glover's expert advice on how to run a 10K. You tuck the book under your arm when you go buying running shoes. You steadily alter your eating habits, so you feel leaner, more nimble. You even alter next year's holiday plans so you can fit in the Madrid Marathon. Worse still, in the evening you find yourself laying aside the new E Annie Proulx in favour of Bob's chapter on Running in Cold Weather. This is the first time I've actually read A Book That Changed My Life. And sure, I'm fitter now, I'm healthier, and I've lost 25 pounds. But that Bob Glover's got a lot to answer for.
