The intense kissing between Dawson and Joey continued on for at least another 5 minutes before Dawson broke it off. He gently backed away from her before speaking.
"Joe, I love you more then anything in the world." Dawson spoke in a gentle caring voice.
"I love you too Dawson." Joey said as tears of happiness started pouring from her eyes.
"We should talk about this some more Joe" Dawson said a little concerned as he took her by the shoulder and led them to his bed "Care to talk about it over a movie?" Dawson spoke as he started going towards the TV.
Joey planted her self on the bed as she usually did on Movie Night and watched Dawson as he flipped through his rather large movie collection.
"So what will it be tonight?" Joey said as she giggled to herself still in disbelief.
"Anything you want my dear" Dawson said as he kept looking through the movies.
"Doesn’t matter to me, just put anything you want in." Joey replied as she lay down in bed.
"Alright then, lets watch this"
Dawson grabbed a tape from his shelf and put it in the video. He took the remote and started the movie, for a few minutes no one said anything and they just lay there staring at the television, although both had a lot to talk about. Finally Joey broke the silence.
"Dawson, we really should talk about this. After all we just promised each other we would be honest." Said Joey looking at the TV.
"I know, Joe, this is just a little new to me, but lets talk. What should we discuss first?" Said Dawson curious to what her response would be.
"Us Dawson, Us. I want to know do you really love me? And are you willing to be with me, I don’t just want a one-night thing. I love you more then anything in the world and I need to know Dawson." Joey said in a serious voice.
"Of course I love you Joe, I love you more then you can ever imagine, I am really sorry it just took so long for me to tell you, but I was afraid you might not feel the same way." Dawson said unhesitantly.
"So does this mean we are really going out? Boy friend, Girl friend?"
"Joey, you know it does, I love you" Dawson said as he leaned over and kissed her on the lips gently.
They lay on the bed for another few minutes watching the TV and thinking about each other and what to discuss next. They had just revealed to each other they’re most intense feelings and it left them both happier then, they could have ever imagined. Dawson had never thought that telling her his feelings could be so easy and wonderful at the same time. They both felt like a heavy weight had been lifted off their backs.
"What about sex?" Dawson said quietly nervous.
"What about it?" Joey said teasing him in her mind. She knew the subject made him uncomfortable by the sound of his voice.
"Well, now that were going out won’t we be thinking about sex?" said Dawson continually apprehensive.
"Yes, of course Dawson, but I think we should wait until we are both ready before doing anything we could regret later" Joey replied
"When will we know that?" Dawson asked curiously.
"Maybe I should go Dawson, sleeping together might not be the best idea right now." Joey said ready to leave.
"Common Joe, you don’t have to leave, I didn’t mean anything by it."
"I know but now that we’re together it’s probably not a good idea, like you know something might happen that we may regret later." Joey said.
"If anything happens, which won’t, then I wouldn’t regret it." Dawson said confidently.
"I don’t know Dawson." Joey said unsure.
"Common, don’t do this Joe, you have nothing to worry about."
"Fine" Joey said giving up. "But if you try to pull anything on me your dead meat." Joey said smiling.
"Deal." Dawson said. "Now can we watch the movie without you walking out?"
"Yeah, yeah."
"So what about France?" Dawson looked at her.
"I don’t know. You know I can’t go now, I love you too much and leaving would just make it harder for the both of us."
"Ok Joe, and thanks. I don’t know what I would do without you" Dawson said thankful that she was not leaving him.
"Well, I’m pretty tired. Lets say we sleep on it tonight and talk some more tomorrow." Dawson said as he got more comfortable in bed.
"Ok, I’m pretty beat myself." Joey got under the covers and leaned over giving him a kiss.
They fell asleep next to each other happier then they had ever been before. For they had shared the innermost secrets and were in love more then they could ever have thought.

"Joey, Joeey. Time to wake up for school" Dawson whispered to her as he sat up in bed.
Joey started to slowly open her eyes and sat up slowly to see what was going on. She took a glance at the clock and realized it was 6:00 AM.
"Dawson, are you crazy?" she said in a tired voice. "It’s six a.m. and you want to get ready for school?"
"Sorry Joe, I just thought you might want to go home and change or something." Dawson said gently.
"Ah damn, I should do that shouldn’t I?" Joey said tired and annoyed. "Mind if I just take a shower here in a bit. I’m too tired to get up right now.
Will your parents mind?"
"Yeah no problem. When do you want me to wake you up? Why would my parents mind? You’ve taken showers here before."
"I don’t know, but wake me up in an hour" Joey said before she dozed off to sleep again.
Dawson however couldn’t get back to sleep and went to take a shower himself, and get changed. After taking his usual 20-minute shower he went downstairs to watch the TV since he didn’t want to wake Joey up. He flipped on the TV to the unpleasant sight of Bob the anchorman. Apparently there was another hurricane warning for Capeside. Dawson quickly flipped the channel not wanting to listen to Bob and remembering what happened during Hurricane Chris. For the next half-hour Dawson flipped through the channels and watched pointless old cartoons while laughing at how bad they were. After realizing it was seven a.m. Dawson quietly went upstairs to wake Joey. When he got there she was no where to be seen. Dawson frantically searched in his room for her before he heard the shower go on and breathed a sign of relief. Why was he feeling that way? He thought to himself for a moment. But let the feeling pass as he got his books ready for school. He noticed the wind was really blowing hard into his room from the open window and quickly went to close it. As he turned around Joey immerged from the hallway and scared him a little.
"Hey Joe, want some breakfast?" Dawson said as he started heading for the kitchen.
"Sure, if you don’t mind I’m kind of hungry."

"Thanks for nothing Duggie" Pacey said as Doug kicked him out of the car.
"I’ll be here to pick you up in thirty minutes, if your not here I’m going to kick your ass." Doug said as he drove off.
Pacey with a bunch of flowers in his hand started towards Jen’s house. He turned serious before knocking on the door, to his surprise Jen had answered instead of her grandma, which usually inspected everyone.
"Hi Pacey, come in, its windy out there." Jen said noticing the flowers.
"Thanks, these are for you and your grams, I heard about your grandpa, I’m really sorry." Pacey said sadly handing Jen the flowers.
"Thank you Pacey, that’s very sweet of you. You want to come in?"
"Yeah, ok if you don’t mind. You want to talk about it?" Pacey said suddenly noticing Jen had very red eyes and was on the verge of crying.
"No, it, its ok Pacey." Jen said holding back tears.
"Are you sure, because I’m sure you could use someone to talk to, and I know Dawson’s been a little preoccupied lately." Pacey said innocently.
That set Jen off however, she began crying and just sat down on a chair and cried.
"I’m sorry Pacey, if you don’t want to stay you can go." Jen said crying embarrassed.
"No, I wouldn’t do that and leave you here. Common Jen talk to me." Pacey insisted.
"It’s just my life has gone from bad to good and now back to bad. I can’t stand it anymore! Just when things were going good I dumped Dawson and ruined it for myself, now my grandpa dies just when he was getting better!" Jen said in tears.
"Its ok Jen, it’ll be ok, it takes time." Pacey said giving Jen a hug.
"Thanks Pacey" Jen said finding time amongst tears to say it. "But I don’t know how much better this can get, I’ve lost everything that matters to me."
"Common Jen, you still have us, your grams."
"Thanks but I’m afraid it’s only you and my grams." Jen said sadly.
"You know that’s not true, Dawson has just been a little preoccupied lately, he’ll be back to his same old self before you even know it." Pacey insisted.
"I really don’t see that happening. Well at least he’ll have a new girlfriend and not me, some former slut who dumped him," Jen said harshly as she pointed to Dawson and Joey leaving for school.
"Jen, don’t say that. You’ve changed, a lot. You’re not like that anymore." Pacey said putting his arms around her shoulder.
"Thanks Pacey, for everything. Go to school now, you’ll be late."
"No, its ok, I’ll stay here with you for now." Pacey said "Besides, Deputy Doug has to pick me up, and he’s out with his boy friends if you know what I mean." Pacey joked bringing a smile to Jen’s face.

After sharing breakfast both got their belongings and headed out for school. Dawson was thinking to himself why his parents weren’t awake. The weather was quite bad outside it was raining lightly and it was windier then normal.
So Joey and Dawson ran to school holding hands and laughing. Not surprised they saw no one outside and continued to head for the entrance of the school. Upon reaching the entrance they found a note on the door saying "School Has Been Closed Today Due To Hurricane David" The winds really started to pick up but Dawson felt they had no other option but to run home again.
"What are we going to do now?" Dawson yelled to her, as the wind was very loud now.
"I don’t know we have to go to your house" Joey screamed back.
"Ok, Hold on to my hand and follow me I know a shorter way." Dawson said grabbing Joey’s hand.
They ran as fast as they could across streets and through backyards, they were both exhausted and couldn’t see much. Winds and rain battered their bodies while they ran. Dawson looked at his watch and realized they had been out over an hour now and tried to find a familiar landmark. Finally he noticed the creek and followed it a few hundred feet until they reached his house. They flopped in through the door gasping for air and totally exhausted.
"Their here!" Mrs. Leery said from across the room. "Where were you two? We were so worried!"
"We went to school mom but it was closed! We had to run home in this weather!" Dawson said wheezing.
"Are you two alright?" Questioned Bessie.
"Yeah we’re ok, right Joey?" Asked Dawson.
"Yeah. The winds are really getting strong." Joey gasped.
"Well I’m glad your both ok" said Mrs. Leery.
"I’m going to get a drink, this horrendous storm has parched me." Joey said as she crawled towards the kitchen.
As Joey crawled into the kitchen and got up Dawson continued to talk with his mom. A shattering behind Dawson scared everyone and all of a sudden the room was blazing with wind and everything started to fly. Glass flew across the room and made holes in the wall. Everyone quickly got down and behind the couch as the winds got harder and the walls started to cave in. Joey in the kitchen was blown down by the strong force of the wind, and hit her head on the floor knocking her out immediately. The forceful wind continued to batter the Leery home for another ten minutes seeming like an eternity to Dawson. After the winds had died down and dangerous objects weren’t hurling through the room the Leery family, Body, and Bessie got up to take a look around. They found the whole living room and kitchen damaged. The kitchen had been totally wrecked with knives everywhere and dishes scattered across the floor. Suddenly and painfully it occurred to Dawson that Joey had went to the kitchen before the winds had entered the house.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----
"So where’s your grandmother?" Pacey asked.
"Probably at church or in her room. Crying."
"I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to."
"It’s ok, don’t worry about it." Jen cut him off.
"Man, these winds are really getting strong, we should go inside." Pacey said.
"Yeah, lets go, you can come in."
Just then, a deafening crash was heard not to far away, Pacey and Jen both turned around instantaneously and watched as a large branch crashed through the Leery house.
"I better see if everything ok there." Pacey said, as he was about to open the door.
"You can’t Pacey, look out there, you’d get blown away before you even got close to their house." Jen warned holding him back.
"But…"
Before Pacey could finish his sentence a large tree branch crashed through the roof of the porch knocking him down and away. He felt dizzy for a few seconds and had the wind knocked out of him but got up quickly to find out what had happened. He noticed the large tree branch in front of him and Jen under it. She was moving her foot around and Pacey immediately pounced toward Jen.
"You ok Jen?" Pacey yelled.
"Yeah, No, not really" Jen said dazed.
"Ok, ok, don’t panic, Doug made me take a first aid course, I know what to do." Pacey said to himself.
"Jen, don’t fall asleep, common talk to me, where does it hurt?" Pacey asked firmly.
"Everywhere" Jen said dozing off.
"Jen, common don’t go on me now," Pacey yelled, rushing to the living room to get towels, or cloths.
He frantically searched for any type of cloth, not being able to find much. He quickly rushed over to Jen with what he had. Covering the most serious wounds he could see. He tried lifting the tree off her but it was too heavy.
He noticed the wind stopped and went for the phone to try and call the police finally taking the situation under control. Unfortunately the phone was dead and he continued to search for other useful things. As he applied more cloth to Jen he noticed a police car coming towards the house. It had to be Doug he thought, quickly jumping up and running towards the car.
"Doug, a tree fell, Jen got hurt! I need your help." Pacey yelled.
Doug bringing a first aid kit with him ran behind Pacey. They reached Jen and Doug with Pacey’s help lifted the tree branch off Jen.
"Here, use this to help her Pacey, I’m going to radio in an ambulance." Doug said calmly.
Pacey began applying various things in the medical kit as Doug went to the police car to use his radio.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----
"Oh my god, where, where is Joey?" Dawson said in a panicked voice.
"God, where is she?" Bessie repeated loudly.
"Mitch go take a look around in the other room, quickly everyone try to find her, she has to be around here somewhere." Mrs. Leery said.
"Joey! Joey!" Dawson called shaking and on the verge of panicking.
Dawson stepped on to the back porch and saw a trail of blood leading to Joey.
"I Found Her, Oh My God I Found Her!" Dawson yelled as loud as he could.
He couldn’t bear to look. There was Joey laying in a small pool of blood bent into shapes he had never seen before and cut up worse then he could imagine. She had her eyes closed and he could only make out faint breaths.
The rest of the people arrived moments later and began to immediately panic along with Dawson. Some how Bodie managed to get to a phone and attempt to phone for help, but his attempts were in vein as the phone was dead. Mrs. Leery quickly ran upstairs for her cellular phone and called an ambulance.
"Ma’am please calm down we will have a ambulance down there as soon as we possibly can. We have a lot of accidents right now, but I’m sure an ambulance will arrive very soon." Said the dispatch lady calmly.
"Hurry up, she is really hurt, there is lots of blood everywhere and she is barely breathing!" Mrs. Leery yelled in a panicked voice.
"Get any towels or clean cloths and apply it to any wound you can see, it is important that pressure be applied so she doesn’t lose anymore blood."
An ambulance could be heard in the distance and Dawson began to panic even more as Joey’s breaths became fainter.
"She stopped breathing! She stopped breathing!" Dawson screamed with tears pouring out of his eyes.
Only seconds later the ambulance had arrived at Dawson’s house and the medics quickly and carefully lay Joey on a stretcher. Dawson begged them to come with her but they refused and took her away yelling a lot of medical talk with worry in their voices. Dawson knelt down and started sobbing. His mother trying to comfort him could not hold back her own tears. Whispering to him that she will be ok. Dawson shook uncontrollably as he slowly proceeded to his room where he continued his crying. Why Her? Why Her? Why Not Me? Dawson thought. His mind was full of fear that he could not control and he didn’t see a will to live without Joey. In his mind she was already dead and he saw no way she could survive. An hour later his mom quietly came into the room and told him she knew the hospital Joey had been rushed to.
She nervously asked him if he wanted to go see if she was all right. Dawson who couldn’t bare to hear anymore bad news reluctantly forced himself to go with his mother.
"Mom, if anything happens to her I don’t know what I am going to do." Dawson said in a shaken voice.
"She’ll be ok Dawson honey, I know she will" Mrs. Leery said trying to comfort Dawson.
"Why did it have to be her? It’s so unfair. It should have been me." Dawson cried.
"Don’t say that honey. It’ll be all right Dawson, you’ll see." Mrs. Leery said in a weary voice.
They drove quietly for a while as Dawson quietly cried to himself trying not to think negative thoughts. It was hard though, he couldn’t imagine his life without Joey, not now, not ever. As they arrived at the hospital Dawson and Mrs. Leery were greeted at the service desk by a young man who politely asked them how he could help.
"I would like to know where I could find out about Josephine Potter who was brought here by ambulance a short while ago." Mrs. Leery said in a serious tone.
"She is still in the ER, you can go find out about her from a doctor by going down the hall to the right." Said the man with slight nervousness in his voice.
"Thank you" said Mrs. Leery.
Dawson couldn’t forget the way the man spoke about Joey; he couldn’t rub off the feeling that something was wrong. They entered the ER to find Bessie and Bodie there already. Mrs. Leery went to talk to Bodie and Bessie.
Mrs. Leery came up behind Dawson at that time with tears in her eyes and started explaining what was going on.
"Dawson, honey. Joey is in really bad shape. She lost a lot of blood and because of the hurricane the hospital doesn’t have any extra blood to give her. She is really badly hurt and unless the hospital gets some extra blood in the next five to ten hours she is going to die" Mrs. Leery said as she began to cry and hug Dawson.
Dawson didn’t say anything and just had a crushed expression on his face. "What if I give her my blood?" mumbled Dawson quietly.
"Honey, there’s no guarantee you will have Joey’s blood type."
"I don’t care test me, do whatever you have to, I can’t just sit around here while a person I love dies on me." Dawson yelled in tears.
"Alright Dawson I will have a doctor check if you have the blood type." Mrs. Leery said softly.
Mrs. Leery quickly proceeded towards the counter and spoke to the nurse.
Minutes later they tested Dawson and rushed the blood to the laboratory to check the blood type. Three hours had past and still no word. Dawson continued to cry and worried that they would run out of time. As Dawson glanced around the room he heard an ambulance nearing and then a bunch of medic’s rush in with a stretcher through the room. He saw that it was Jen on the stretcher and she was covered in blood and bumps and bruises. Pacey was behind them following the medics as they rushed Jen through the hallway into the operating room. Dawson followed behind him barely able to walk. The medics quickly stopped the both of them as Jen was brought into the operating room instructing them firmly to go into the waiting room. Dawson flopped back down in the chair and began to cry even more. Pacey continually asked the Nurse how Jen was and what had happened to her. Another hour passed by and they finally got the word on Dawson’s blood. It was compatible with Joey’s. But there’s a little problem. There is another girl currently needing blood even more so. Her name is Jen Lindley. Dawson couldn’t believe what they were making him do. Choose between his lifelong best friend and newly found love and his ex. Dawson didn’t know what to do. If he gave the blood to Joey, Jen would probably die, if he gave it to Jen, Joey would die. He knew he would give it to Joey but how could he say it? How could he knowingly do such a thing?
"Give the blood to Joey" Dawson said quietly.
"Ok, please come with me." said the nurse.
Dawson was thankful that they didn’t give him a hard time with it. He couldn ’t stop thinking about how he had killed Jen now. He tried not to think about it but it kept coming back to him. Joey was more important to him he hated to admit and he would never regret his decision. They brought him into a room where they attached a needle to him and started to drain blood. After what felt like an eternity they stopped and instructed Dawson to go to the waiting room. His mother told him that Joey was still in critical condition and not expected to survive with tears in her face. Dawson just sat down and began crying more. What if she dies? Then Jen dies too? I could have saved Jen. Dawson couldn’t forget this it stuck in his mind like cement. Why Joey? Why Joey? Dawson kept repeating. Hours past and Dawson fell asleep in the hospital from exhaustion. He was awakened by the sound of his mothers crying.
"Mom? What happened?" Dawson said quietly.
"Nothing honey, go back to sleep." Mrs. Leery insisted.
"Mom, please tell me."
"We heard about Jen, I’m so sorry Dawson."
Dawson noticed Mrs. Ryan crying in the corner. How could she live now that her husband and granddaughter had died? He thought to himself sadly relating the situation to his.
"What happened to her? Is she, she dead?" Dawson said quivering
"No, but she is in very bad shape. And the blood that Pacey is donating doesn’t look like it’s helping"
"Pacey?" Dawson said surprised.
"Yeah, he found out his blood was the same as hers and he decided to try and help her."
"I’m sure she’ll be all right now." said Dawson with relief in his voice.
"Pacey’s on the case" He joked to himself.
"Yeah, I hope so."
"What about Joey he asked?"
"She is still in critical condition, the doctors have been working on her all night." Said Mrs. Leery.
"Ok." Dawson whispered sadly.
Dawson couldn’t help feel some relief because Jen was probably going to be ok now thanks to Pacey. He dozed off to sleep thinking about Joey some more.
Dawson slept straight through the day until he was awakened by Pacey. He looked like he was happy.
"Hey Dawson man, how ya doing?"
"Hi Pacey, what’s the news on Joey?"
"Well, News has it that the love of your life is in stable condition." Pacey joked.
"Oh thank god." Dawson gasped. "What about Jen?"
"She is better too, she should be out in a few days thanks to yours truly." Pacey pointed to himself smiling.
"Oh, that’s good. I bet she’ll be happy you saved her."
"She’ll be more then happy I’m sure." Pacey said.
Dawson began crying tears of happiness now that his best friend would be ok, she was more then his best friend he realized, they were meant for each other; he would give his life for her. He also couldn’t but help to be happy for Jen she made it. He couldn’t believe how lucky he was, he came close to losing his love, and a close friend and they both made it.
"Dawson?" Mrs. Leery said.
"Yeah Mom?" Dawson said happily.
"I have some news on Joey" she said looking nervous.
"Yeah? What is it?" Dawson asked.
"She is in good condition now, she should be home in about a week."
"That’s good mom. Thank god." He said happily.
"There’s another thing, I know this has been very hard on you but after Bessie told her what happened she doesn’t want to go home, she wants to stay with you, at our house. Do you mind?" Mrs. Leery asked.
"No, there’s nothing I would like more." Dawson happily agreed.
"Can I talk to her?" Asked Dawson.
"No honey, I’m sorry the doctors said they have to keep her sedated for the next week to give her body time to relax."
"Ok Mom."
Dawson was finally relieved and could go home happily. He had been away from his house for three days now. He was not looking forward to coming home to a ruined house. He drove by a lot of debris and damage, however when he walked in his house he was surprised to find everything almost back to normal.
"What happened around here? Everything is fixed." Asked Dawson.
"We got everything fixed while you guys were away, everything is back to normal now. Are you ok Dawson?" Asked Mr. Leery.
"Yeah I’m fine. I think I’ll just go hit the sack."
"Ok, have a good night." Mr. Leery said.
For the next few days Dawson enjoyed his time off school because it needed repair, he couldn’t stop thinking of Joey and what it would be like when she came back. He couldn’t wait to spend more time with her, he would never let her go again and cherish every moment with her. This event truly made him realize how much he cared for her and loved her. There was only one more day until she got back and he had made every plan to make her visit back the most comfortable in the world. The night was approaching when Joey was to get home and he couldn’t wait. Only ten more minutes Dawson thought to himself. One, two, three hours had past and still no Joey returning. He began worrying and wandering what was wrong now. No phone calls. No anything. Where was Joey?
