I wrote this one for my ninth grade english teacher... Mister Lerner did not appreciate it much at the time, but I think the grade he gave me for it is much better than the grade I would have received had I written a short story...

The wind blew softly,
whispering sweet music in his ear.
The sand moved calmly,
under his feet as he carried on.
The sun struck painfully,
blazing his back in its caring light.

The traveller took a container and sipped,
as he cooled down and the sun seemed calmer.

The wind blew stronger,
blaring trumpets in his ear.
The sand flew crazily,
hitting his face with a thousand needles.
The moon stood there staring,
as his body became numb.

The traveller clenched his fists,
as he tried warming himself.

The wind calmed down,
slightly burning his back.
The sand stood still,
as he layed motionless on top of it.
The moon laughed silently,
as it watched its new prey,
slowly give away.

The wind still blows hard,
carrying away bits and pieces of bone.
The sand still walks in circles,
until it has covered the skeleton in its footsteps.
The sun looks on sadly,
as her traveller's remnants lie there.
The moon now satisfied,
begins a new life and searches,
searches for his prey to come wandering,
wandering in his desert.
