DESCENDANTS OF JAMES BOLLEN

JAMES BOLLEN was listed as one of the first settlers of Staten Island, Richmond Co. NY in 1664. He moved with his family to East Jersey about 1665 where he played an important part in the history of New Jersey. He was chosen by Governor Carteret to be Secretary of the Province. At Woodbridge NJ he was Judge, Justice of the Peace and Interpreter of Government Acts. There is flimsy evidence that the wife of James was Anne Vauquellen, daughter of Robert Vauquellen and Jeane (unknown) but this is quite unlikely. James died before 27 Mar 1682 and since guardians were appointed for his children, his wife may have died before him.
