Charlie is what you might call an All-American! He played Football, Baseball, Basketball, and tennis. Charlie accomplishments include winning the Heisman Trophy (the Heisman is given to the nations top college football player) in 1993. Charlie lead his the Seminoles to the national title that year. And although Charlie never played baseball in college he was drafted to the Milwaukee Brewers in 1993, and the New York Yankees in 1994. Charlie participated in the Arthur Ashe Aids Tennis Challenge in 1994. Which was right before he participated in the US open at Flushing Meadow. He is the best college football player to play in the NBA.

Being a point guard makes perfect sense for Charlie considering he was a quarterback. As a quarterback you lead the team, just like a point guard does in basketball.

15 days after winning MVP honors as the quarterback at the Orange bowl in his senior year, Charlie join his school's basketball team. He started 16 times that year averaging 10.5 points and 4.9 assists.

Eventually Charlie had to make a choice, he decided to be a pro-basketball player, and was the Knicks first choice in 1994. He played only 10 games, but ever since his playing time has increased. Appearing in 62 games in 1995-96, and 79 games in 1996-1997. In 1997 Charlie became the starting point guard when Chris Childs steped down form the starting lineup.

Charlie flourished in his new role. Making all kinds of new career highs including points, and assist. Charlie says that he always posses the skills. The difference is that he was getting the chance to display them.

Charlie is a born again Christian who isn't afraid to give God the credit for everything he does. You might have seen Charlie point towards heaven before he starts a game. If he makes a real good or important play, you'll see him point towards heaven and thank God. Charlie is one guy who is thankful for where he is, what he is doing and the chances he has received.

Last Year Ward struggled a lot, in what might be consider his worse season. Some say Charlie's poor play was partly contributed by a knee injury. This summer he had surgery on the knee but is still bothered by it. Charlie still posses the skills to become a great player someday.
