Secrets
Telling your friends, boyfriend,or your girlfriend secrets can relieve a lot of
stress if they are serious secrets such as, should you tell your
boyfriend if you have been abused or raped? Your friends,
boyfriend, or girlfriend can also help you to solve some situations or give you
advice, for example, maybe he thinks that you should see a counselor
or he knows of a good book on the topic for you to read which might
help. If you are currently being abused, they could know of some
ways for you to get help, maybe they know the number for a really
good crisis line or maybe they know the name of a really good
counselor. The question is: how do you know that they will keep your
secret safe? Ask yourself, do I trust him/her? If the answer is no,
then you should find someone else to confide in, such as a teacher,
or a relative. If the answer is a definite yes, then you really trust
him/her to keep your secret and therefor your secret is most likely
safe. If the answer is maybe, here is a really good idea: how about
telling them a minor secret, such as the most embarassing moment
you've ever had or who you have a crush on and tell them not to tell
anyone. If they keep the minor secret, then you know that you can
most likely trust them with a major secret. If they don't, tell someone
else who you trust your secret. Remember, if your friend or boyfriend
doesn't keep your major secret, it is possible that it is for your own
good. If you are anorexic or bulimic or endangering your life, and
they tell someone, it is most likely to get you help. It is to your
benefit
if they tell someone that you are in a dangerous situation. This is a
situation that has happened to me, one of my friends told me a secret
(I can't say what it is, because it is a secret) and I kept it. It
did not put
him in danger, so there was no need to tell anyone, it also relieved a
lot of his stress. So if you feel that you can trust someone, tell them
your secrets and it may turn out to be the best thing you ever did for
yourself!
