There are many heroes out there, but my hero is my mom. My mom is my hero because she supports me. She supported me when I needed help.
She is also my hero because she makes me happy. She makes me happy by supplying me with my needs and making my holidays enjoyable.
My mom makes sure I'm safe and behave well. She makes sure I study well so that I can make good grades.
She encourages me to do my homework and corrects me when I am wrong. She provides all items I need for school, church, and my birthdays.
That's why my hero is my mom!

Damola F.

Out of many heroes, this one is mine. My hero's name is Ronnie. Ronnie is my big brother. I really look up to him. He never does anything that I don't want him to do, and he is very respectful. He is really kind and isn't mean to me at all. He is a very considerate person. Ronnie respects other people's belongings, he respects other people, and he respects himself. He is very courteous. Let's say he was getting ready to walk into a restaurant. He would hold the door for everyone else. He saved my life when I was a baby. I always used to think he was very smart. I respect him very much. That's why he is my hero.

Samantha P.

Susan B. Anthony is my hero. She was a brave-hearted person. In 1872, she broke the law by voting and demanded to go to jail just like any other man. She paid a $100 fine. From 1881 to 1886 Susan and Stanton Elisabeth coedited three volumes of a book called History of Woman Suffrage. She also published a fourth volume of the book in 1902. Susan B. Anthony died in 1906, 14 years before the Nineteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution became law and gave women the right to vote. Minted for circulation were $1.00 coins bearing Anthony's picture. Susan was the first woman to be pictured on a United States coin in general circulation. That's why Susan B. Anthony is my hero.

There are lots of heroes! Who's yours? My hero is my mother. My mother is a hero because she puts a roof over my head, buys me clothes, feeds me, and a lot more other things. She is strong and caring. I admire her because she loves my family and me. I can be like my mother by growing up, having children, and doing what she is doing. I was heroic by helping a senior citizen cross a very busy street that didn't have crossing lights or buttons to push to tell you when to cross. I had to look both ways and cross the street carefully so that the senior citizen felt safe. It was fun to help someone! Remember, my hero is my strong and caring mother who takes care of me!

Sydne M.

Out of all the heroes, my mum is my hero. I chose my mum as my hero because she encourages me when I feel that I can't do something. She encouraged me to swim without floaties. She helped me not to be afraid of the dark. She always tells us "Try, try, and you will get success." She always wants us to be fast in our work. She helps me with whatever I have difficulties with. I believe all mothers are heroes, as they contribute a lot in making a child's good future. These are the two reasons (they show the child what is right and what is wrong and they give the family rules) why I chose my mother as my hero.

Kaushal D.

My heroes are my parents. They take care of me and they feed me. They also make sure that I have clothes to wear and treat me nicely when I do something nice for them or someone else.
My parents would put their lives on the line to save me from any type of dangerous situation. One example is when I almost drowned in Beaver Dam, but my dad saved my life.
They are always here for me and give me allowance when I do my chores. My parents are very cool people, and that is why they are my heroes.

Zachary M.

My hero is Martin Luther King, Jr. In 1929, Martin Luther King was born. He was raised in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1954, Martin Luther King, Jr. became a pastor of Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama. When Rosa Parks was arrested, Martin Luther King, Jr. marked his lifelong commitment to the civil rights movement. Martin Luther King, Jr. went to Morehouse College when he was only fifteen years old. After his graduation, he moved to Chester, Pennsylvania for a masters degree. On December 10th, Dr. King was awarded with the Nobel Peace Prize. On the evening of April 4th, 1965, he went out on his balcony at his motel and was shot dead by James Earl Ray. After his death, riots broke out. He had a dream that his four children would one day live in a nation that would not judge them by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. This is why Martin Luther King, Jr. is my hero.

D'Sean W.B.

There are over one million heroes! My heroes are all the firefighters from September 11th. I like them because they gave their lives for other people and they never gave up. They knew they were doing a good thing for themselves and for a lot of other people, too. They are not selfish and they always try to do what is right. They always do their job and they always try to be a good sport about everything. I want to be just like them when I get older and grow up. These are the reasons I like the firefighters from September 11th, 2001.

Ashley W.

My heroes are my parents. They are my heroes because they give me love. For example, I get five dollars a week for allowance. My point is most children don't get allowance. My parents show me that they care for me by giving me what I need, like clothes, food, and a house to live in. I'm lucky that they don't treat me the way that Cinderella's stepmother did! That's why my mom and dad are my heroes.

Elise M.

There are many heroes in the world, but my favorite hero is Martin Luther King, Jr. He stood up for equal rights. He wanted colored people to have the same rights as white people. Dr. King won the Nobel Prize for working for civil rights.
Here are my opinions about what makes my hero my hero. My hero was brave, strong, caring, and thoughtful. He was not selfish. My hero did not want to be rewarded for his heroic deed. My hero stood up for himself. That is why Martin Luther King, Jr. is my hero.

Malcolm D.

There are lots of heroes. My hero is my mother. She is my hero because since I was born she took care of me. She feeds me, gave me baths, and buys me clothes and shoes. Also, any time I cried she would put on plays, she would dance with me, and I would laugh. She also read stories to me at night. Any time I cried at night she would wake up and take care of me. Sometimes when I cried, she carried me. She is also a hero now because she helps me with my homework and wakes me up for school. She also buys me supplies. That's why my mom is a hero.

Samuel E.

There are many heroes in the world. My favorite hero is The Undertaker. He is a wrestler. I respect him as a wrestler because when I grow up, I want to become a wrestler. He is my hero because he is a good wrestler, and in wrestling he stands for America. Also, he is a good guy and fights the bad, but he was really sad when the towers collapsed on September 11th. All the wrestlers were out there to say the Pledge of Allegiance, even the bad people! That's why The Undertaker is my hero.

Chris L.

There are many heroes out there. My heroes are the firefighters because they saved lives on September 11th, 2001 with the Twin Towers and the Pentagon attack. They put out a lot of deadly fires. They have to be strong because their suits are almost seventy pounds. The firefighters are brave. After September 11th, 2001, we lost a lot of firefighters from the burying and some quit their jobs. Some lost their wife, kids, or both. Firefighters were not prepared for the big attack on September 11th, 2001.

Robert F.

There are many kinds of heroes in the world. My favorite heroes are the firemen. They are my favorite heroes because they put others before themselves and save lives from fires even if they know they'll die. The firemen are brave. They're brave because they risk their lives to put out a fire.
The firemen are also kind. The firemen are kind because they face the possibility of death to save others. In my opinion, that's pretty kind.
The best quality of firemen is that they save lives in a way in which you have a high risk of dying. That is the best quality of firemen because that is being brave and kind, two qualities I look up to. These are the reasons why firemen are my favorite heroes.

Marie S.

Out of all of the heroes in the world, my mom is my hero. My mom is my hero because one day my little brother Mathew was in a little boat in the pool and almost fell out. He started to rock back and forth. My mom saw him so she caught him. I know that if I were rocking back and forth, she would have caught me, too. Also, if I tried to jump off a bridge or jump out of a ship, she would try to save me. Even if I tried to do something crazy, she would stop me from doing it. That is why my mom is my hero in the world.

Brianna M.

There are many heroes in the world. My hero is my grandmother. She is my hero because she encouraged me to like school. Two words that describe my grandmother are loving and caring. She is loving because she buys me stuff, like this Barbie house she got for me that was a hundred dollars. My grandmother is caring because she cares for me. One thing my grandmother does that I admire is that she treats my sister and me the same, gets us everything we want, and never yells at us. I admire these things because when I become a grandmother I would have to yell at my grandkids. One way I can be more like my hero is to help with more stuff around the house. My grandmother helps with a lot of stuff around the house. My hero is very strong, thoughtful, and would risk her life to save the life of one of her grandkids. That's why she is my hero.

Kaitlyn F.

My hero is my mom. She is nice and very helpful. My mother helps me with my homework every night. She also helps me with my cheerleading steps. One thing I admire about my mom is she takes good care of me. She buys me new things for school. She also does my hair every morning for school. My mom painted my room pink, yellow, and purple with Tweety Bird designs on the wall. Sometimes she lets me pick fun places for me to go on my birthday. These are the reasons my mom is my hero.

Tyese M-C.

There are many heroes in the world, but mine is my mom. She is my hero because she puts a roof over my head, buys me things, gives me food, and makes sure I have a babysitter when she goes out. She does a lot of things for me. Two words that describe this person are caring and nice because if she weren't, I wouldn't have the things from above and more. One thing that this person does that I admire is that she takes me to daycare every morning so she can go to work. One thing I can do is make my mom go to bed early because she makes me to go bed early. This is why my mom is my hero.

Miriam R.

My hero is my dad. My dad is my hero because he stands up for his country. Also, my dad is a hero because he fought in the Persian Gulf War. My dad and a lot of other people fought over the land. My dad is kind, helpful, and strong. I admire that he stands up for his country and is never afraid. Also, my dad is not selfish. He thinks about other people as well as himself. My dad is brave, too. Whenever he is in danger, he doesn't worry a bit. An example that he is brave is when he pulled a tick off of my thigh with his bare fingers. No matter what, my dad will always be my hero.

RuAnne W.

There are many heroes and heroines in the world, but my favorite heroine is Harriet Tubman, the Freedom Fighter. Two words to describe my heroine are brave and fearless. She is brave because at the age of fifteen she decided it was time to leave her master. She used the Underground Railroad. She hid in people's houses who didn't believe in slavery. At night, they walked for miles until they got to the next "station". Their journey north was dangerous and long. One way I could be like her is by helping people. If someone drops a book, I could pick it up.

Sara T.

There are many heroes and heroines in the world, and my heroine is my mom. She has lots of jobs to do, and she never complains. My mom is very caring, loving, and non-selfish. If I am sick and my dad is at work or something, she is always there for me. My mom has three jobs and they are bookkeeping, taking care of me, and taking care of my sister. My mother is the one that taught me that life isn 't always about fun or about me. About two months ago, my mother had surgery, but when she was about to go into the surgery room, the only thing that she could think about was my sister and I.
When I was little, I fell down brick stairs and had a big scrape on my face. I was bleeding really badly, and my mom stayed home and watched me heal while she could have been at work. These are the reasons why she is my heroine!

Melissa W.

My hero is Ruby Nell. When Ruby was six years old, the President of the United States allowed Ruby to go to an all-white school because she was beyond her school's requirements. In other words, she was too smart for her school, so she went to the white school. On her first day, crowds of people were yelling horrible things. Policemen escorted her wherever she went. Troops had to hold back the crowds. She is my hero because not once did she think the worst of herself. She kept her head up high and didn't quit.

Marlowe R.

My hero is a man named Mr. Roy. He is my hero because he saved my life when I was five. My big cousin and I were riding big mountain bikes. We were going down a hill, and he cut through an alley. So then I tried to slow down, but I couldn't press my brakes down and the alley was too narrow to go through without hitting the brakes. I kept going. What I didn't realize was that a big street was in front of me. Then, I tried to stop again, but I was too weak to press down the brakes. Then when I was at the last alley across the street, Mr. Roy came running out of the alley and pushed the bike and me down in the grass and saved me. I really wasn't hurt except I had a cut on my chin. After about a minute, my big cousin came and took me home. I chose that person because he saved my life, and if he wasn't there, I could have died or been seriously hurt.

Ryan C.

My heroes are the firemen from September 11th. They are my heroes because they helped people get out of the buildings by going up the steps and helping them. After the buildings completely collapsed, the firemen were still trying to find people. They stayed up all night trying to find them. The next day, they found five people trapped in a car. They looked for days trying to find survivors. They found many bodies under the rubble.
That's why the brave firemen from September 11th are my heroes.

Dustin L.

My hero is Michelle Kwan. Michelle Kwan is my hero because she is my favorite ice skater. Michelle Kwan won the bronze medal last year. I was pretty upset when she didn't get the gold medal. Michelle Kwan was fourteen years old when she started competing. Michelle is my hero because she did what I always wanted to do- to go to the Olympics. My dad says that I'm so good at ice skating that I could go to the Olympics, if I really wanted to. I've been ice skating for about a year or so. This is why she is my hero.

Corrine G.

My heroes are the firefighters from 9/11. They are my heroes because they worked more than a day to find people who were still alive. They are brave, caring, and helpful. They are brave because they searched through all of the pieces of the Twin Towers. They are caring because once they found people, they cared for them and helped them. They are helpful because they helped put out fires and save people. I think that if there were no firefighters, the world would be one big fire and be destroyed. We have firefighters, so we are very lucky. These are the reasons why the firefighters of 9/11 are my heroes.

Elise T.

My heroes are the firemen who try to save others. They are always thoughtful of others. I give much respect to the firemen. Many people are given a new chance of life because of the firemen. Since September 11th, people have seen that firemen should not be taken lightly because they are brave and are always at any time willing to give their life away to preserve yours. I have learned many things about courage because of September 11th and the firemen.

Aaron H.

My heroes are the firefighters from September 11th. They are my heroes because they were trying to help others and put out a fire at the same time. The words that I think best describe my heroes are brave and very helpful. Things they do that I admire are risking their lives for other people, doing good things for other people, and not expecting rewards for what they are doing.
A way I can be more like my heroes is by helping others who are in need of help or are in trouble. The firefighters from September 11th are very brave and courageous. This is why the firefighters from September 11th are my heroes.

Shelby H.

There are many heroes in the world. My heroes are all the firefighters. To me, they are put together as one because they all do the same thing like saving people's lives. They make a difference in the world because, without them, there wouldn't be as many people alive as there are today. Firefighters are very special people. The firefighters helped many people on September 11th. They are brave. They wouldn't go into a burning building if they weren't brave. They have a lot of faith. That's because if they believe they can save someone's life, they have faith in themselves.
Sometimes I cry because of all the lives that were lost on September 11th. Many lives were lost, but many were saved by firefighters. I think firefighters don't save people's lives to be recognized. They do it because they love it. Their job is what they like to do. Firefighters are special, loving, and caring people. They are caring, loving, and special because they would risk their lives out of love. I hope you understand why they are my heroes.

Erica J.

There are many heroes in the world. My favorites are the firefighters from the 9/11 tragedy at the World Trade Center. They are my heroes because they are really brave. They are brave because they risked their own lives for people that they didn't know because of this terrible tragedy. I think that if there were no firefighters, the world would have been burned up and destroyed, but luckily, we have firefighters. I am really proud of my heroes, because if it weren't for my heroes, there would be no world to live in.

Danielle R.

There are a lot of heroes in the world. My hero is George Washington, America's first president. When George Washington grew up, he joined Virginia's army. He led many attacks against the French and Indians. George was a good leader. Soon he became the leader of Virginia's army. Back then, life in America wasn't so easy. People had to pay high taxes. George thought that was unfair and so did other people. The colonists went to war against Great Britain. This war was called the Revolutionary War. Finally, after eight long years, the war ended and the colonies were free! America was free! After the Revolutionary War, Washington still had important jobs to do. He helped create the Constitution. People set down rules for the new government to follow. Then, he was chosen to be the first president of the United States. He was president for eight years. Across the river from Mount Vernon is where Washington stayed and died. Washington D.C. was named after George Washington's honor. This is why he is my hero!

Dylan S.

My mom is my hero because she helps me when I am sad. She also takes care of me when I am mad, lonely, or sick. She is always there when I need her. She tries to help everybody she can. She solves all my problems. I like her as my hero because she is a hard-working person. She will always be my hero no matter what she does or where she goes.

Courtney W.

I have a lot of heroes, but my favorite hero is Jessica, my aunt. Sometimes she's mean to me, but she is still my favorite hero because she saved me a million times. One day, I was playing basketball outside and I tripped over something and fell. My hand went into something sharp, and I lost a lot of blood. Jessica took me inside and washed my hands. Another time was when I was about five years old. My mother would be frustrated and agitated, but Jessica would drag me to her room and say, "Come on, De'Quan," and make me feel better.
