Mark Richard Hamill

Birthdate: September 25, 1951 in Oakland, CA.

Parents:William (a Navy Captain) & Suzanne Hamill

Siblings:William Jr., Terry, Patrick, Jan, Jeanie, & Kim (cool name! he he)

Being the son of a Navy Captain allowed Mark the opportunity of growing up in a variety of places, including NYC, San Diego, and even Yokohama, Japan, where he graduated in 1969. After graduating he signed up as a theater arts major at the L.A. City College.

His first proffesional acting role was on the original Bill Cosby Show in 1970. He followed that with several appearances on various t.v. shows, including The Partridge Family, and One Day At A Time; as well as several tv movies including Eric and The City.

His first movie role was in Star Wars, followed by movies such as Corvette Summer, The Big Red One,and The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia.

In 1978 he married Marilou York. They have 3 children; Nathan (June 25,1979), Griffin(March 4, 1983), and Chelsea(July 27,1988). They now live in Malibu, California, and also have a place in New York City.

Aside from movies, Mark has also enjoyed many years in theater, including time on Broadway. He was nominated for a Drama Desk award for best actor in a musical for his work in the Broadway musical Harrigan 'N' Hart.

He decided to leave Broadway in the late 1980's. Since then he has returned to movies, tv appearances, tv movies, and he has had much success doing cartoon voice-overs. He has also worked on the Wing Commander CD ROM games. Last year he released his 5 issue graphic novel The Black Pearl, which became a best-seller and will soon be released as a trade paperback.
