FFL REMEMBERS WALTER PAYTON
Walter Payton - The Legend
Walter Payton - The Milestones
Walter Payton - The Statistics
Walter Payton ended his career a few short years before the Fantasy Football League was founded in '91 but he will forever be remembered for his determination. He was symbolic of everything right in the game of football during a time of change and transition in the NFL. He was the reliable work-horse of a mediocre Bears franchise of the 70's and early-80's. Even with little or no help from rag-tagged offensive lines throughout his 13 year career, Payton rushed for over 1,200 yards in each season with the exception of his rookie year and two strike-shortened seasons. The crowning jewel of his career was in breaking Jim Brown's career rushing record which has now stood for 15 years. Some may say the true crowning achievement was winning Super Bowl XX with the 1985 Chicago Bears. His day was tarnished though by an extremely poor and selfish decision by Mike Ditka to have William "The Refrigerator" Perry plow through the line from one yard out instead of Payton. ........But he didn't complain! That's the kind of man he was. A true team-player in it's truest sense. Gone but not forgotten! Walter Payton. ___________________________________________________________________This Is Our League, This Is Your Fantasy, This Is The FFL!
