Setting up Brood War for your Lan! With Only One Brood War CD!!
First off, some explanations. IPX games, the type you play on a LAN, do not check CD keys, so you can install the full version of Starcraft on each PC on the network. The second thing is you do not have to have the Starcraft CD in the CD ROM drive to play Brood War. The third and final thing is that you can play an IPX game of Brood War without the CD in the drive as long as you have the music turned off on the computers that don't have a Brood War CD in the drive.
OK, here is how you do it!
Install full versions of Starcraft on all stations on the network.
Next, install Brood War on all stations on the LAN.
Put the Brood War CD into the CD ROM drive of each computer, taking turns and start a Brood War Game. Once you get the game created, you can then take the CD out of the drive.
Continue this on all other workstations joining the game then taking out the CD until you all stations in the game!
Make sure the stations that do not have a CD in the drive have the music turned off. If you don't turn the music off, Starcraft will keep asking you for your Brood War CD. If you have problems with this, try it again, experiment with only getting 2 stations in the game, once you get those 2 running you can work on joining with the others.
Good Luck!
