Countdown to my high school graduation! (June 24, 2000, at 2:00pm EDT)

Just a few words about the whole college thing.  Yes, I was accepted to Syracuse University!  Very exciting indeed...  but the whole college board thing is what really gets me.  Yes, these are the people in Princeton University who swim in the overabundance of money they receive each year from students who are forced to take their tests if they want any kind of shot of getting into college.  How unfair is this?  VERY!  Think about it... they can charge whatever they want to for the SATs, the AP exams, and everything else they do.  And really, what do the SATs measure?  Not what you learn in school, not an accurate representation of your intelligence.  Just your knowledge of left field, useless vocabulary and math problems.  And then the literary interpretations, don't get me started!  Maybe I'm all by myself on this one, but I think that when you read literature, whether it be an essay, short story, novel, poem, whatever, that the author didn't intend for it to be picked apart and and each letter of each word being analyzed for why it's there and what is means.  Literature is supposed to be a work of art, to be admired for its beauty - NOT for critical analysis by college bound students.  Anyway, my words of advice to you all - don't take the SATs more than twice, don't pay to see test answers or anything like that.  It's all a huge capitalist money making ploy.  And remember, many college will also accept ACT test scores.  I also took the ACTs and was very proud of my results.  Unlike the SATs, the ACTs test the things you learn in school and are not so obscure and ambiguous as SATs are.  I found the ACTs much easier.  I hope one day the ACTs overrun the SATs as "the test you have to take to get into college" because those idiots in Princeton have been treated like royalty for too long.  Can anybody say monopoly?  Wow!  Bill Gates does have something in common with a prestigious University!
