Well if you are going through Eugene as you say, and you don't mind camping, I suggest you catch a ride to the forest and visit a tree sit. If travelling by train, hop off at the Eugene Amtrak station, and across the street (454 Willamette #205 upstairs) is the office of Cascadia Forest Defenders. They will gladly give you a ride to a sit if possible, or a map if a car is unavailable. It is easy to hitch in Eugene (at least I had a lot of luck) especially on Eugene. Take a city bus to Dexter, and catch a ride to a campground and walk to a sit from there... thety aren't far. The people are great and they will certainly have a dry place to lay your head. I recommend Fall Creek or WInberry, as they are pretty easy to get to, but all sits are tons of fun! Oh and mention crimethinc if you stop by.... some people will know what you are talking about (but not all).... they do get harbringer out there. Enjoy your trip!
