Possible World Series Champs, Boston Has Best Record in AL!
July 10, 2003

First Month of the Season, Boston Dominated the American League going 22-6 in April.

This team has it all, Pedro Martinez, last season’s Cy Young Winner, possibly the best Outfield in all of baseball, and arguably the best Shortstop in Nomar Garciaparra. They have jumped out to a 4 game lead over surprising team in Toronto and a 6.5 game lead over the New York Yankees. They ended the month on a good note, winning 8 of their last 10, and 5 of those in a row. Once again Pedro Martinez is proving why he is the best in baseball, in the first month he went 6-0 with a 1.53 ERA. Going along with Pedro Martinez, the Red Sox have added right-handed pitcher Roy Halladay. On the offensive side, the trio of Ramirez, Junior and Burrell has lead the way for the Sox. Combined they are hitting .361 with 28 homeruns and knocking in 95 RBIs. The only thing you can say bad about this team is that their bullpen needs a little work. Jeff Shaw their veteran closer is having a solid year, but outside of him and Alan Embree, the rest of their bullpen is struggling. Other then their pen, this team is as solid as it gets and will make a run for the gold in the playoffs.

For a second year in a row, Arizona’s young staff is dominating the National League, they have helped the Backs go 22-6 which leads the NL West and has them 3.5 games back of defending World Series Champions the San Francisco Giants.
