TIPS-- 18G & 16G jewelry is mostly used for eyebrow piercing. 14G is the starting point for most piercing like the tongue or the navel.

  • The *higher* the gauge number the *smaller* the wire is.
  • A standard earring bought in the mall is usually 20 gauge.
  • A standard ear piercing at an actual shop with a needle is usually a 14 gauge.
  • Larger sizes are used to enlarge holes. Stretch your piercings. This is a gradual process.

Ball sizes is really a matter of taste but as a general guide, 1/8" and 5/32" inch balls are used for eyebrow piercing and 3/16" and 1/4" inch balls for tongue piercings.
