The photograph was taken in the Spring of 1910 just months before Murry Lee Traughber was born. Little Leta died in December, just 2 months and a day after her first birthday. Someone brought a spoiled ham to her birthday party. Everyone who ate it got sick. It killed her.
Wiliam Eugene Traughber was born 08 March 1871 on the Kentucky, Tenessee border. The Traughber lands lay in both Logan County Kentucky and Cocke County Tennessee. So, he was actually born in both states. At the age of 12 the family moved to Sulphur Bluff, Hopkins County, Texas where he spent the rest of his life. On his death certificate his parents are identified. William Traughber and Elizabeth Cook.
Leora Wells was born in Sulphur Bluff, Hopkins County, Texas on the 2nd day of February 1878. At a very young age she lost most of her family in an Indian massacre. She said it happened when she was about 5 years old. The family had just arrived at the ranch when they were attacked by Indians. Of that terrible tragedy, she remembered hiding under the wagon watching them murder her family. The 1880 census reveals her parents: Thomas A Wells and Elmina Brady.
William Eugene Traughber and Leora Wells were married 01 July 1897 in Franklin County Texas. On January 1st, 1896 before they were husband and wife they purchased 2 tracts of land from G.S. and M.K. Traughber. The first to William Eugene Traughber - 250 acres for the sum of $1,000.00. The second to Leora Wells Traughber, a 50 acre tract for the sum of $250.00. It was on this land that they would bring 9 children into the world and bury three. Build at least two homes; one was destroyed by a tornado that left a stove, a barrel and splinters of wood.Leora Wells married William E. Traughber 01 July 1897 in Franklin County. This couple found in 1900 census in Hopkins County. She said she was born Feb 1879 in Texas stated both parents born TX. William E Traughber born KY Mar 1871 and daughter May M Traughber born Mar 1899. Leora Traughber died in Hopkins Co Mem Hosp 01 Oct 1972 lived in Commerce, Hunt Co per her youngest daughter, Mrs. Grace Bohannon she was born 02 Feb 1878 in Sulphur Bluff, Hopkins Co. This Leora's parents were Thomas A Wells and Elmina listed in 1880 Franklin Co Census."

There is a double headstone in the Blanco Cemetery, Pittsburg County Oklahoma, USA with G.S. Traughber B: 12 Oct 1868 D:20 Dec 1941 and Katie B: 13 Oct 1875 D: 28 Jan 1949 inscribed on it. The text reads General Sydney Traughber was born in Danville, Kentucky to William Traughber and Elizabeth Cook. He was a farmer and died in Blanco. With an added note: General Sidney Traughber married Katie Fitzgerald in Kentucky or Tennessee and they settled in Oklahoma. He was the brother of my Great-Great-Grandfather, George W. Traughber.--McGraver"
