My Silent Love

by Thelma Elizabeth Barkman

A rose,soft velvet to touch
a rose so sweet plucked fresh,
perfumed drops of dew,
it is a kiss you place upon my cheek,
for words of love you need not speak;
A flower of passion close to you,
so too my beating heart;
A miracle of wonder,as is our love,
a work of art to behold
a precious gift you give,
priceless,not to measure,
be it now a flower pressed,
in a book of verses,
your poem mine to treasure,
would that I keep it dear.
