DiGi Charat

Few shows are as underrated as DiGi Charat. To me, this is like the Monty Python of anime. It is complete and utter insanity, with no real visible plot. However, under closer inspection, there is.

Dejiko Charat, a princess from DiGi Planet, is sent to Earth to become an idol with her traveling companions Gema, a round blobby puffy thing, and Puchiko, Dejiko's little sister. Gema is sort of an advisor to Dejiko, but it rarely gets any respect-- in fact, it gets blasted and stepped on too many times to count. But that's beside the point...

Once on Earth, they find that they have no money and no place to stay. They have landed in Akihabara, the shopping mega-tropolis of Tokyo! It's full of people who look (oddly enough) like fingers. They are offered a job by the manager of a store called Gamers. The store, which sells game trading cards and board games and video games (etc etc etc.), actually does exist, and this entire cartoon was created orginally as a promotion for the store. Dejiko is their real life mascot...once again, this is rather beside the point...

It is not long before Dejiko encounters Rabi-en-Rose, her self-proclaimed rival. Dejiko never actually calls her Rabi-en-Rose, instead calling her by her real name, Usada. (Usada HATES that.) They also meet a small boy, Takaru Minagawa, who has fallen head over heels for Rabi-en-Rose, and a tall, blonde bishonen guy, Takaru Kimura, who has this thing with the way Dejiko says "nyu" at the end of every sentence... (it's a neko thing) who seems utterly devoted to Puchiko and her cuteness. And to top it all off, there's Dejiko's two devoted fans, Takeshi and Yoshimi (Bukimi for combined and short). These guys sum up the words "drooling fan boy."

So, once the characters are introduced, the 16 episode series covers the bizzare happenings in the district of Akihabara and the Gamers store. It's mostly nonsense, but it's the most entertaining nonsense you'll ever find in the world of Neko-anime.
