back what is given..."(NKJV)
FACTS ON HOMELESS VETERANS:
40% of homeless men are veterans, although
veterans make up only 34% of the homeless
population as a whole... homeless veterans
are not necessarily the men who served in
combat...Studies show that veterans that are
homeless are less likely to have served in
combat, than those that are housed. Homeless
veterans are more likely to be white, better
educated and previously or not currently
married than homeless non-veterans...
Although minorities are overrepresented among
homeless veterans, evidence shows that veteran
status REDUCES homeless status among Black
Americans: Black non-veterans are 2.9 times more
likely to be homeless than Black veterans are.
However, Black veterans are one and a half times
more likely to be homeless than white veterans...
The U.S. Department of Veteran affairs does
administer two special programs for homeless
veterans: The Domicilary Care for Homeless
Veterans Program (DCHV), and the Health Care
for Homeless Veterans Program (HCHV). Both
programs provide outreach, psychosocial
assessments, referrals, residential treatments,
and follow up case management for homeless
veterans.....
