Growling Swallet

Growling Swallet is the largest inflow cave in the Junee-Florentine area. It is the source of the "Junee Master System" that lies still undiscovered under many of the deep caves in the area. It takes quite a large river, dropping away steeply from the surface at an angle of about 30 degrees for a couple of hundred metres.

Inside the entrance is a really impressive series of waterfalls as the cave just drops away... Soon enough, the cave levels out, and there is some big stream passage before it soon sumps.

The first sump can be bypassed... however it involves going through a really horrible section called "Necrosis". Several other side streams join the cave during the bypass route. The passage continues as nice river passage for a while, before ultimately sumping again. It is next seen 9km away at the Junee Resurgance. In spite of the fact that there are numerous deep caves in between these two points (with proven hydrological connections to this same river), no more of this impressive "Master System" cave has yet been found.
