Bills upset Broncos in attempt to save Jauron

The Bills won one for the Gipper. The come-from-behind win was definitely one where the players put forth an extra effort in an attempt to save coach Dick Jauron his job. With continuous media and fan heat to can the coach, the Bills players decided to take this into their own hands and play one of their most emotional games of the year.

The Bills, down 13-0 to start the game, came roaring back and turned the game into a good old fashioned AFL-type shootout. In the end, the defense was able to stop the Broncos from scoring yet another tying TD and stop their drive in the red zone. The Bills won 30-23 in Mile High Stadium to up their record to 7-8.

Trent Edwards had a slow start in the cold, but sunny conditions in Mile High Stadium. The Broncos were able to take a 13-0 lead, but Edwards got warmed up eventually and led the Bills to their 7th victory. He was 17 of 25 for 193 yards and one TD. Even more important, Edwards seemed to grow more confident as the game progressed and may have found some of the lost spark that he had when the Bills opened 4-0 and 5-1.

"We're fighters," Edwards admitted after the game. "Regardless, win, lose, tie, whatever it is, each week we're going to come to work the next day, the next week, and come ready to play on Sunday. That's the attitude of this team. That's the attitude of our head coach."

There is only one more game remaining in the Bills season, the Patriots are coming to Buffalo for a winter fest. It appears as if the Bills will finish 7-9 for their third straight year, all under Jauron. Bills owner Ralph Wilson says that he hasn't made up his mind on whether Jauron will be extended a new contract. It could be that his job hinges on this last game against the Pats.

The Bills were gaining some ground with Marshawn Lynch churning out the yardage. But then he hurt his shoulder, tried to come back and couldn't. In went Freddie Jackson and the Bills didn't miss a beat.

Jackson ran 10 times for 43 yards, one for an 8-yard touchdown. He also caught three passes by Edwards for 70 yards. One was for 65 yards which set up a Bills touchdown. On top of that, Jackson had two kickoff returns which averaged 23.5 yards. Jackson was an all-purpose back that helped the Bills upset the Broncos.

Jackson doesn’t mind being the backup to Lynch and likes to fly under the radar.

"I'm kind of a no-name and that doesn't bother me," revealed Jackson. "I'm hearing from a lot of players we play against that they scheme around me, too. I just want to keep doing what I do, take some of the heat off Marshawn and help this team as much as possible."
