Mi Poesias E-Zine Poem Of The Week Jan 2001

Traffic Jam Malaise - 07/07/2000

The pylons stand like sentinels casting trip-lines for angry giants,
as skeletal abominations astride the verdant fields.
They taint the perfect landscape structured symbols of defiance,
a rebuff to Mother Nature and the beauty that she yields.

Roads scythe through the meadows seemingly in alliance,
concrete scars that traverse the earth, wounds barely healed.
The poisoned distant hills seem to shrink in compliance,
in the haze of standing traffic and the innovation that we wield.

This is mans offensive armed with the wonders of modern science.
In ignorance and arrogance we attack our protective shield.
And soon nature will crush us all like so many angry giants.
Our fate is preordained…Mother Nature has revealed…

Just ask the dinosaurs.
