The Dance - 04/07/00

We argued, we fought,
and it all came to naught.
We shouted, we pouted,
all the hate was outed.

I swore, I abhorred,
where once I adored.
She accused I refused,
We verbally abused,
We flouted, we pouted,
all the hate was outed.

She appealed, I repealed,
we ate a silent meal.
Both defeated, she retreated,
The marital bed was depleted.
I spouted, I pouted
all the hate was outed.

Early morning, guilty yawning,
pride wouldn't heed the warning.
Breakfast tense no repents,
A palpable silence our defence.
Hate exuding, love eluding,
In the car we sat brooding.
Journeys end no amends.
Not lovers not even friends.
Surreptitious glance; eyes dance,
There may just be a chance.
Not reviled, not defiled
Reluctantly we smiled.

I hate you
I hate you too.
Tension routed love touted
thus all the hate was outed.
