The Club - July 1998

Packs of hunters stalking their prey,
war painted beauties, 'plain Janes' by day,
short length skirts as tight fitting bait,
lures for the night for a temporary mate.

Amid lotions and potions, bleaches and dyes,
inhibitions are redundant for sexual ties.
Superficiality is a substitute for reality,
the Friday night agenda in this contraceptive society.

Potential rapists senses dulled by the beer,
look for a 'score' as last orders draws near.
Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, battle-dressed to impress,
extortionate plumage to capture a mate no less.

Amid the smell of stale beer and second-hand smoke,
competition meets aggression and noses are broke.
Heavy-handed bouncers move in for the kill,
they do it for money, or is it the thrill?

Cackling blondes with sun bed tans,
meet muscled boneheads with wandering hands.
Stereotypical images and their rituals of dating,
week in and week out, one night mating.

Amid the air of sexual tension,
thoughts of a miss breed doubt, apprehension.
Stalking the dance-floor desperation sets in,
one night stands are aplenty morality spread thin.

Dance-floor orgies are love song's results,
sordid clichés among consenting adults.
Sleazy propositions fill the early morning,
as lust driven minds ignore safe sex's warning.

Strangers beds beckon and beds beckon strangers,
despite of it all ignoring the dangers.
In alcoholic dazes partners head home,
yet another night not leaving alone.

Wake in the morning awkward, unclean,
make promises to ring that they don't mean.
Another notch on the belt, another conquest made,
added to the list as the memories fade.

Those who leave alone go searching for food,
awake in the morning hung-over, subdued,
Out of pocket, out of luck, ignoring the realistic,
there's always tonight; ever optimistic.

Another night in the club begins once more,
same faces, same agenda as the night before,
Hunting for prey, searching for sex,
carefully avoiding last nights ex.
