History Of The Belmont Inn

The building began construction in 1865 completion was in 1866. It was originally the offices for the Combination Silver Mining Company. The Inn also served as a stage stop in the later 1800's. Most of the construction is of native limestone and lumber that the mill furnished from far up the canyon at Pine Creek in Monitor Valley.

It has seen visitors such as Wyatt Earp who was a guest here during the late 1890's while he conducted business in the town of Belmont which was the county seat of Nye County during Nevada’s boomtown days.

Belmont’s historic Italianate courthouse, which can be viewed from the Inn’s balcony rooms, is featured in all major ghost town directories of the west.
