According to me BBC in concert, is a better way to know what Badfinger was abble to do on stage. better days and take it all are particulary well performed, love is easy is amazing. Name: Randy Justesen From: USA URL: Haven't got one. Comments: Day After Day has far superior sound quality than the BBC cd. Too bad about the darn sampled snare drum sound that is mixed too loud. The snare definately needed to be added but just mixed back in further. I think with any of the remaining still unreleased tapes that post production should be heavy handed to get quality up to todays standards. After all, the successfully released Badfinger albums all got that special touch. Day After Day go that special touch and sold over 80,000 copies to prove it. The BBC cd although very good has a lot of room for sonic improvement and probably was not budgeted to receive extensive enhancements. Comments: The BBC is a great CD - interesting selection of songs, some fine performances (a really good Love Is Easy) and very good sound, as is often the case with BBC recordings. Day after Day has got some exciting songs on it as well. Itīs been edited and it doesnīt always sound absolutely authentic (I donīt find the drums that annoying though) but itīs still one of the few legal recording showing what badfinger in concert were like. Name: Barb Alan Atkinson From: Tulsa / USA URL: Haven't got one. Comments: The hard cold truth of the Day After Day-Live cd is that it came from a bad performance riddled with sound problems. Anybody who has heard the original tapes knows how bad they were. There are a couple of other sound board recorded shows but Joey neither had these tapes in posession or the rights to release them if he did. With what he had to work with he did a good job, but it could have been better. I don't mind the added vocals and guitar parts (that used to be the norm for live albums) but I wish he had left the songs in the original sequencial order and of course the annoying drum sound. Still I'm glad I have it. I really like the BBC album. I cant think of any complaints on it. I love the long jams. I love Joey playing the wrong chord at the beginning of Icicles. Even before the Official issue of it the BOOT version was still exciting and of course led to the real release finally! Live Day After Day-is another story! I met Joey & Mike throughout the touring of the late 80's. I was excited to hear that he was spending alot of time restoring this 1974 show for release. When it first came out I was excited because it showed Badfinger to be a natural talent and a concert powerhouse. It can be difficult to listen to now. I have heard the real unaltered show without the encores. (Joey did not use these on the CD!) Yet it is obvious that he changed all his vocals, added some guitar to fatten up the sound overall. Mike was working with Joey for at least 2 years of this process. Money and time to get Mike to the studion must have made Joey decide not to get him involved. If you like Joeys part of the show then the CD is the only way to hear them like he intended it.
