I Need You

I Need You

I was talking with some friends at a club they call The Door
They said you had a girl, but you ain't got one no more
With that, I dropped my drink, well, it took me by surprise
I bet she's going with a fella about three times my size
So I grabbed my coat away, 'twas made of rabbit's fur
The fella was too big, so I said these words to her
I said, "I need you, need you like I never needed anyone before"

Well, with this, the fella started getting red and mighty wild
The sort of stink you're getting when you've drunk ten pints of mild
His nostrils started steaming and the smoke came from his ears
I thought of all the blood and things and then I lost my fears
So, I hit him with a bottle, uh, 'causing him some pain
They said I should have throttled, but I tried those words again
I said, "I need you, need you like I never needed anyone before"

Well, I must, um, hit him a might too hard 'cause he laid pretty still
I even thought of asking for his guitar in his will
When suddenly, I saw a light, not the kind that advertised
It was mounted on a big black Ford and flashed into my eyes
Well, they took me and they tried me, guilty I was found
And as they marched me up the steps, they heard the same old sound
I said, "I need you, need you like I never needed anyone before"
One more time now (You ain't got time, buddy)
"I need you, need you like I never needed anyone..."
