Comments:

"Supersnazz" from 1969 was The Flamin 'Groovies' debut album. Throughout their career, the group has been known for charming simple and catchy rock, often with some Keith Richard-inspired guitar hooks. The group wrote from the beginning a large part of their material and some of these can rightly be called rock classics; especially the fabulous "Shake Some Action". Some of the group's members have stated that this debut album is somewhat overproduced and not really representative of the music the group was passionate about and played live.

It is certainly not a weak album, but on the other hand, it is neither as original nor exciting as later albums like "Teenage Head" and "Shake Some Action". Their own (Roy Loney) quirky "Laurie Did it" is my favorite, with acoustic guitar, a rather catchy melody, fine bluesy guitar solo and an unexpected crooning part with strings, before returning to the song's actual melody. Another original "A Part From That" (Roy Loney, Cyril Jordan) is a bit in the same genre; again with string-backing. Otherwise most of the music is mostly solid rock and R&B, with a nice version of Eddie Cochran's "Something Else ”as a personal favourite.
