"Many people outside Germany have probably forgotten about Nena, who with her band had several big hits in the 1980’s; the biggest "99 Luftballons". Or maybe some might think that her career more or less came to a halt when she dissolved her band Nena band in 1986. That this is far from the case is proved through her long string of fine albums released since 1989 (with that great "Wunder Gescheh'n") until today.
"Jamma Nich" from 1997, may not belong to her very best, but with great pop-rock songs like "Ganz gelassen" and "Auf dich und mich" Nena delivers at a level which is a Sheryl Crow worthy. Fine guitar sound; actually reminiscent of Sheryl Crow from her best early period, and Nena’s vocals are not unlike her American counterpart.
Almost Beatles-like ("Dear Prudence") is the long "Lass los", which also may lead thoughts towards Dido from England.
In fact, "Jamma nich" is a rather multifaceted album where all songs are very listenable.
