My comments:

4 "new" Iveys recording have been released for the first time with this RPM sampler of the Apple era. Other artists are Lace, Gallagher & Lyle, Majority One, The U, Turquoise, Peter Cooper and Goldrush.

Of the Iveys recordings Pete Ham's "Black and White Rainbows" is by far the most successful. Though interesting, the other three songs may sound somewhat disconnected and at unfinished stages. "Girl in Mini-Skirt" is not the same version as the one on the bootleg "Someday We'll be Known" - different lyrics! "Mr Strangeways" is also quite different; a rougher sounding version.

The Apple Music publishing company was first into battle for the new organisation, making its initial signings in mid 1967, in fact before the company even got to 94 Baker St. Over the next two years they demo'd many writers and placed recordings where possible. Inevitably given the amount recorded much remained unissued and we are happy to be able to give many of those songs a well deserved airing.

Highlights includes four more previously unissued Iveys tracks, the first recordings of Gallagher & Lyle, and the cult Bachdenkel who provide the title track. The sleeve notes are a lovingly documented essay by Stefan Granados including many rare pics and memorabilia.

My favourites: "Black and White Rainbows" + Gallagher and Lyle´s "Technicolour Dream" and "Ivy Unrehearsed", all track from "The U No Who" and the two George Alexander ( of Grapefruit ) songs.

Other good tracks: Actually most of them

Of 10 possible stars I would give this album: 6
