The second world war started in Europe on September 1, 1939, when Adolph Hitler's Nazi party attacked Poland.

On September 3, 1939 Great Britain and France declared war on Germany. On December 11 Italy and Germany declared war on them.

Unfortunate deaths began to occur in April 1945 when U.S. President Roosevelt died on April 12. Mussolini of Italy was murdered on the 28th. And Hitler committed suicide on the 30th.

The act of military surrender by Germany was signed in Reims, France on the 7th of May 1945. The ceremony was conducted in a three-story former school building, which was General Eisenhower's headquarters for the European theater of operations.
