After the Action
"We've come a long way since the early days. I can remember a time when it was considered macho to run into a burning building without an air pack. Now it would be considered plain stupid and a quick road to a career change. |
In Command
There is something very satisfying about coming onto a scene where everything is out of control and taking action to bring about a positive resolution. John served for nearly 30 years at Port Everglades, today known as Station 6, Broward Sherrif's Office of Fire Rescue. |
| Rising through the ranks from Lieutenant to Captain and then to Battalion Chief, John was in charge of all of the first responders. His job was to take command in a fire scene and to make certain that everyone goes home at the end of the day. "Give enough orders, and the fire will go out." |
