TRAFFIC A recent survey by Stony Stratford Neighbourhood Council demonstrated problematic levels of car ownership and considerable parking difficulties, in the narrow, congested streets which are the only access to and from the site. Any proposed development of 46 dwellings, would at least double the number of cars and considerably increase the number of service, and delivery vehicles forced to use these streets. A doubling of traffic volumes would inflict increased danger, noise, pollution levels, possible damage to roads and residential properties. There would be severe problems during any construction period, currently estimated at approximately two years. Local road infrastructure is old, poorly maintained, has many sub-standard features and is totally unsuited to modern traffic volumes. It cannot be significantly changed and no traffic management system could cope effectively with the increases. |
