 There are many go-withs in the insulator hobby and one that stands out as an integral part of the early communication network is the telegraph keys and sounders.  There were three main devices used in early telegraphy.  The one everyone is familiar with is the telegraph key and the lessor known sounders and relays.

Here is a look at some of the different styles that were used before the phone became widespread and replaced the old dot and dash form of communication.
