A love spell that is done correctly is not designed to manipulate, it is designed to have a passing thought of you enter the target's mind; it is then up to that person to think about you some more (if they're interested) or to dismiss the thought (if they're not). You can achieve much the same result by thinking about someone a lot. If you are against this type of "manipulation" then you'll have to stop thinking about other people the rest of your life. There is nothing in the Wiccan Rede that says you can't cast a love spell. The fact that you don't want to read the writings of the Witches who founded Wicca, but claim you know all about it anyway, doesn't exactly show an open or reasonable mind. Your idea about astral projection doesn't mention the fact that every night when you sleep, your soul leaves your physical body and travels on the astral. Learning to take conscious control of this process is a basic teaching and requirement for Wiccans, as well as others who practice magick. And fighting one's enemies on the astral plane is a very real and necessary part of any genuine spiritual growth, as every astral traveler knows. As for your learned scholar, that's an outrageous fib; no scholar (nor anyone else who researches the matter) would back the assertions you have made about the pentacle and the pentagram. I did not make any reference to the Witches who existed prior to the Wiccans, I meant the original Wiccans who came up with the term 'Wiccan' AFTER Gerald Gardner started his tradition in the 1940's. This was not a long time before you, this was the beginning of Wicca, which occurred in my lifetime. Your references to Wicca, however, do not agree in any way with the teachings and beliefs of these Witches (mainly the Gardnerians and Alexandrians), but rather give the impression of the later writings and beliefs of the pagans and Neo-Wiccans who falsely call themselves Wiccans. As for the posting in the guestbooks, you were the one who started this by your first post in my guestbook instead of e-mailing me.

Webmasters Note: Erica, I find your statements not only surprising, but rather strange. As the High Priest of a Wiccan Coven for eleven years, I have to disagree with just about everything you said about Wicca. Love spells are very real and are a part of Wicca. They do not, however, result in forcing someone to do your will. Perhaps you have mistaken the Neo-Wicca put forth by authors such as Starhawk, Cunningham and Ravenwolf for the real thing. As for your remarks about the pentagram and pentacle, these are completely incorrect as any real Wiccan can tell you; I guess you didn't read my article on the pentagram. I didn't mention the altar because this site is basically about Alchemy, and my main references to Witchcraft are a history of modern Witchcraft, with examples of the low magick employed by Witches. Since the Three-Fold Law was invented by Gerald Gardner in the 1940's and was unknown to Witches before that time (they did know about karma in general), I saw no need to explain what is obvious to most. As for my Norse section, I guess you didn't see the nine paragraphs there explaining the mythos. Regarding Yggdrasil, my section on the World Tree elsewhere on my site gives much more detail. As for RPG's, all of the things you say one cannot do in reality in fact can be done by anyone who learns to astral travel -- it seems that your lack of experience has led you to conclusions that have no basis in fact.

I just received an e-mail saying that I was interested in wicca, and that I should check this site. I am indeen a wiccan and I did come, but found nothing wicca-related here. I am not in anypositing of judging this site since I'm not any expert in magick and dragons, but you should pay more attention as to who you invite to come over. I personally think that the subjects talked about here will not be interesting to wiccans. But then again, it's just my opinion.

It seems as though there's a lot of content here, and that can never be a bad thing. And more, it was created on my birthday. =)

Additionally, there is an essay on the Witch Wars, a section on Low Magick (Witchcraft) and my own history of eleven years as a Witch in Baltimore.
