"The successful Adept…traverses the seven angels… representing the chief operations of the Great Work…
And even upon reaching the Philosophers' Stone, he finds it is held in custody by a formidable Dragon."
-- Amphitheatrum sapientae aeternae, Heinrich Khunrath (1606)

(The Red Dragon Gives Impetus)
- Roderick the Great
Welsh Druid & Chieftain, 9th century

"Though all of the crannies of the world we filled
With Elves and Gnomes, though we dared to build
Gods and their houses out of dark and light,
And sowed the seed of Dragons -- 'twas our right."
-- J.R.R. Tolkein

DRAGON: (1) an ancient spiritual force, (2) a human or other being who attains spiritual knowledge and power, (3) a pet name for lizards, (4) an object of fantasy among the young.

MAGICK: The application of spiritual knowledge and power to transform the self and its perceived realities, usually through meditation and/or ritual.

ALCHEMY: The Art and Science of redeeming our lost union with Universal Spirit through a personal transformation called the Great Work.

"You are given the gifts of the gods:
you create your reality, according to your beliefs.
Yours is the creative energy that makes your world.
There are no limitations to the Self except those you believe in."
SETH / Jane Roberts

DRAGON HEART
dragon
Darkness, shadows, silence,
All concealing what is in the night.
Look deeper, penetrate the darkness
And see what lurks in the heart.
A sight beyond reality lurks there,
A sight many fear,
A dragon in full glory stands,
Waiting to be heard.
Many fight it, fearing the unknown,
Knowing not what they do.
The dragon does not fight,
Wisdom guiding its thoughts.
Death comes to the dragon,
Yet it lives still in the heart,
Which will never forget
What it felt when the dragon was there.
-Unknown

SILENTIUM
Fyodor Tyutchev
translated by Vladimir Nabokov

Speak not, lie hidden, and conceal
the way you dream, the things you feel.
Deep in your spirit let them rise
akin to stars in crystal skies
that set before the night is blurred:
delight in them and speak no word.

How can a heart expression find?
How should another know your mind?
Will he discern what quickens you?
A thought once uttered is untrue.
Dimmed is the fountainhead when stirred:
drink at the source and speak no word.

Live in your inner self alone
within your soul a world has grown,
the magic of veiled thoughts that might
be blinded by the outer light,
drowned in the noise of day, unheard...
take in their song and speak no word.

SPECIAL NOTE
Books About the Dragon
In reference to the frequent requests I get for the titles of good books about the Dragon and / or Dragon Magick, let me say this. In my opinion, there are no good books about either subject. The best one can do in terms of book research is piece together from many sources the lore of the Dragon and try to find the pattern of Truth therein. After suffering many inquiries from Newbies about the the book Dancing with Dragons by D. J. Conway, I have decided to put my two cents regarding this book here.

The Morrigan

Luis Royo
Ancient goddesses who were guides of the dead -- and those of the living who dare the journey -- to the Underworld were also guardians of the Gate of the Underworld. As those who have passed this Gate know, it is really Three Gates in One. Thus the guardians of the Gate are said to have a three-fold nature, from the three-headed Greek Hekate to the three crows of the Celtic Morrigan. Historians and pagans who have not penetrated the esoteric knowledge of the Gate to the Underworld often erroneously infer a lunar aspect to these goddesses, from the three phases of the moon represented by the maid, mother and crone.

Caspar David Friedrich

"There was in him a vital scorn
Of all:
As if the worst had fallen
Which could befall,
He stood a stranger in this
Breathing world,
An erring spirit from another
Hurled;
A thing of dark imaginings,
That shaped
By choice the perils he
By chance escaped."
-- Lord Byron
