Tatamagouche is a "global village" ...nestled at the junction of two tidal rivers
(Waugh's River and French River) in Northern Nova Scotia, Canada.
Centrally located at the heart of the Maritime Provinces,
Tatamagouche has easy access to all Atlantic regions and the world,
via two international airports in Halifax NS
and Moncton, New Brunswick.

Tatamagouche is a frequent stop for visitors
seeking the tranquility of rural life.
Some of our visitors cannot leave us and come back to stay!

The beautiful watercolour of the historic "Tatamagouche Creamery"

on our front page is a significant part of our past
and the renowned "Tatamagouche Butter" can still be purchased today!

Depicted in the creamery painting are wildflowers known as "lupins".
Meadows and fields come alive with colour all spring and summer as lupins, wild roses, fireweed, irises, tiger lilies, Queen Anne's lace (just to name a few) create a wonderful contrast to our the lush green landscape. Plenty of delicious wild berries and fruit await those who venture into the fields seeking the taste sensations of strawberries,
blueberries, cherries and apples.
We enjoy a rich cultural and historical heritage, with the Mi'kmaq Indians
being our first settlers, the French Huguenots, the Acadians
and the Scots all make their claims to this "Sunrise Trail".

A stroll through town will take you "back-in-time"
with the magnificent architecture of our historic homes and locations.

The surrounding hills and wilderness areas are home to many of Nova Scotia's
native wildlife including deer, moose, fox, coyote, beaver, and bear.
Bald eagles nest near the riverbanks, the endangered piping plover patrol our shores
and many other birds of prey and songbirds make morning hours a delight!
Birders will enjoy following the path of migrating birds over Tatamagouche, as thousands of ducks and geese rest and feed here on their journeys north and south.
Enjoy the great outdoors during four spectacular seasons in Tatamagouche. Here you can relax in perfect conditions for golfing, boating, hiking, skiing - or simply basking in the beauty of a picture-perfect sunset over glistening waters.

The seasonal festivals of the community, including Oktoberfest, the Blueberry Festival and the Christmas Festival of Trees, are a delight for all ages. Throughout the year, you can enjoy performances by the well-known Tatamagouche Area Singers, the Tatamagouche Chamber Ensemble, the myriad artistic activities at the Fraser Cultural Centre, and the remarkable displays at the Sunrise Trail Museum.

Tatamagouche is the service centre for the surrounding regions,
offering full community services, including schools, a hospital, fire department,
Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and ambulance service.

A full range of activities are available for young and old alike! Our web site lists most of them, from Barrachois Harbour Yacht Club to the New Annan Archers,
North Shore Archives to the North Shore Snowmobile Club

- we've got it all!

Tatamagouche holds great appeal when it comes to living a balanced lifestyle and enjoying true "quality of life" in a safe and healthy environment - with very little of the crime or pollution associated with urban living conditions.

Tatamagouche is known for its strong sense of community,
with smiling faces greeting you wherever you go!

Today, the economy of Tatamagouche is one of contrasts. Our traditional primary industries of farming, fishing, and forestry operate along side a growing information technology industry of computer-enabled businesses in an exciting and vibrant mix of old and new. To appreciate the quality of life in Tatamagouche, we invite you to stroll down Main Street and talk to a few of our friendly folks. Ask them what they think and we are confident most will say "I wouldn't live anywhere else!"
