Dear Lori

Family and Friends are gathered tonight
To remember your life that was just right
A Ball to go with the fairy tale story
Of the perfect life that you lived, Lori.
Yes it is hard, but we will make it through
Because we are stong just like you.

We each have memories we have made
They are in our hearts locked and saved
We know you're looking down from above
Showering all with your unconditional love
There is no doubt in our minds that you have your wings
Because the sun keeps shining and the birds still sing

Famly and friends are here to remember
your simple energy
Your purest soul
Your phenomental beauty
Our treasure to behold.

Now with your Prince Luke you'll forever be
Full of happiness for all eternity.
Our Lori Anne we miss you so
We still don't understand why you had to go
You will never be forgotten for you have left your mark
You will always be the light on the path that is dark

A wonderful person through and through
Tonight we are here for a tribute to you
Family and friends are gathered tonight
To remember all of your strength and might..

You always wore proud, the white and the blue
A nurse you are, and this is true
So here we are now one and all
To celebrate Lor, your Nurse's Ball!

Written by Kristen Gibson, Lori's cousin
This poem was read at her first memorial nurse's ball.

Lori Anne DiBello was born on March 11, 1980 to Michael DiBello and Lori(now Corso). She leaves behind a large family of many aunts, uncles and cousins, and a lot of friends..

Lori is survived by me, her stepdad, Rich, her father Michael, her sister Lindsey, stepbrothers Rich and Bobby..

She is the granddaughter of Mike and Helen DiBello and the late David and Mary Gibson. Marie Schultz, my sister, is Lori's Godmother and aunt and her godfather is her uncle Jimmy DiBello.

Lori died on May 18, 2001 at the age of 21. Lori died in a car accident along with her boyriend Luke. They were backseat passengers and both were ejected. The accident occurred on Roosevelt Blvd. Lori wanted to be a nurse since the time she was nine years old. Lori died 2 weeks before she graduated from Frankford Hospital School of Nursing. She died at Frankford Hospital Torresdale, Div. where she was a student nurse, and worked as a nurse's aid. Lori would have been an excellent nurse, and that is why I will always give her the RN title she worked so hard for.

Lori died on her grandmom DiBello's birthday. It makes me so sad that it happened at all, let alone on her grandmom's birthday, because her grandmom lost her oldest daughter Jan, less than a year before..

Lori was my first born daughter, and 21 months later came her sister, Lindsey. They are both my heart and soul. They grew up to be best friends, and it makes me so sad to see our family lost and broken. Lindsey lost her only sibling and one of her best friends. Lindsey loved to make Lori Laugh..

Lori came from a very large family with a lot of aunts, uncles and cousins. She loved to play soccer sing, dance, and she loved it when people made her laugh. She loved to teach her sister and cousins dances for our annual "block parties" at her grandmom Gibson's house whom we all called Mimi..

Lori loved her Mimi who is my mom. She would practice her nursing skills on her, taking her blood pressure, and taking care of her when she was recovering from some of her hospital stays, once she even moved in with my mom for 2 months so she wouldn't be alone at night. They are now Together in Heaven. My mom died ten months after Lori.

Our lives will never be the same. Lori is missed and loved by so many family and friends. We are thankful for our many happy memories of Lori. We had a lot of fun together in our family. We thank God for the gift of having Lori in our lives. It hurts every day to go on, like a piece of us is missing, But Lori will always be a part of us.

We had the first Nurse's Ball in March, 2002 to raise money for a Memorial Scholarship in Lori's name. We chose to have it in March because I want to celebrate the time Lori was born, not the time she died. It was a huge success. It was a formal/semiformal affair and everyone looked beautiful. It was a wonderful tribute to Lori. Over three hundred people attended. We could have had more if the hall was bigger. We all came to celebrate Lori's life, and raise money for her scholarship fund. Her scholarship is presented to a student from her high school who will be attending Frankford Nursing School. We did so well with our event that we initiated two more scholarships to be given in Lori's name. One for an eighth grade graduate from Lori's grade school, Our Lady of Consolation, who will be attending St. Hubert and another for a student in need at St. Hubert..
