Sitting on boulders
Above the River of Souls
A lady hawk soars
Dawn cracking night
A curious mouse
Smiled at the hawk
Freak of nature:
Should one attack
Shud one smile back?
Sitting, sitting,
Eyes are watching
Mouse and eagle flirt
Stares at scared mouse
Extended wings
Beak-rub mouse's back
Grinning, turning
Mouse winks and nods
Kissing eagles beak
Digs, offers worm
Welcomes mouse with
A scarlet touch
Bites the old taste
Severing in half
Crawls on eagle.
Carries creature
Soars above skies
Thru velvet nights
Looking old familiar
Blue sky races
Slipped nightly dreams
Night adventures
One last screech, leaves
Rodent to sleep
Slippery dreams collapse
Torn away together
Friendship surviving
Alas, dawn creeps
Transforms bird to
Lady of Court.
