Now we have moved on to Florence where we were introduced to the fresco covered Duomo that creates the center of the city.

This is my best Where is Waldo? impression. See if you can find me...

Pic of me at the Coliseum in Rome.

This pic is taken at the Coliseum in Rome. As you can see from the people located around the inside of it, it's size was what amazed me. Being built in 79 AD it is surely the greatest dome stadium I have ever been in.

This is another pic of the Coliseum from a different view showing the height in it's entirety from ground level to roof level.

This last pic of the Coliseum gives you a look at the layout of the "basement" where all the gladiators, beasts and traps were arranged through a series of 79 portals which surfaced on the ancient floor which saw an average of 1 person or beast killed every 10 seconds over it's first year.

This is the Piazza in front St. Peters Cathedral in Rome. Unfortunatly I have no good pics of the cathedral itself because if scaffolding which covered the massive structure.

Piazza Venezia Situated at the center of the city, this piazza is teeming with continual traffic, because the main arteries of the city converge here. The grandiose Monument to Vittorio Emanuele II (also known as the Altar of Patriotism), erected between 1885 and 1911 by Giuseppe Sacconi to glorify the first king of Italy, is at the center of the piazza. At the base of the monument is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, by Zanelli. Nearby is the Venetian Palace (see chart), which, together with the ancient church of San Marco (fourth century) and the Venetian Palazzetto, forms a vast architectural complex.

This is one of the last pics taken before Italy and I parted ways. It is taken at the Trevi Fountain which is a great series of statues where one actually feels justified throwing money into in hopes of a far-fetched dream coming true.

The last sight I had the opportunity to see in Rome was the Piazza di Spagna and the Spanish Steps. They are a wonderful place to stop and relax at because of the buildings that surround the area providing shade to the tourist in late afternoon sun.
