Paul Stephen Rudd was born on April 6, 1969, in Passaic, New Jersey. Paul's family traveled a lot, but they eventually settled in Kansas City. While in Kansas, Paul attened the Shawnee Mission West High School.

After graduating high school, Paul majored in theatre at the University of Kansas. He did very well in his studies and was part of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. Upon graduating from the university, he received the Spencer Tracy Scholarship to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in L.A. He spent a semester studying at the British Drama Academy in Oxford England. There, he portrayed the title role in "Hamlet," which was directed by Ben Kingsley. In 1991, Paul went on to do tv. First, a recurring character on "Sisters,” as Kirby Philby. Just two years later, Paul starred in a "Moment of Truth," a TV movie entitled "Stalking Back" and was also in the mini-series "The Fire Next Time".

In 1994, he received more tv roles. Paul played Jimmy Rusoff in "Runaway Daughters," and was part of the regular cast of "Wild Oats", a sitcom. Wild Oats was cancelled after less than a season. Little did Paul know, the next year would make him a star. He was cast in “Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers” and the summer hit, “Clueless.” As years would come Paul would do more movies, theatre, and produce and star in the Old Globe's critically acclaimed production of "Bloody Poetry."
