Panda has black hair, and dark, almost black eyes. She has a somewhat pale, somwhat narrow face, and thats how she got her name. Shes sixteen years old. Shes very quiet, in fact shes mute. Shes basically scared of the world. She doesn't trust anyone, and she doesn't feel like she belongs anywhere. She had long ago stopped letting things get to her. Shes not going out with Race, but she trusts him more then anyone else. Later shes going to be with a boxer...
Beaner has brown eyes and brown hair. Shes got a good sense of humor, but she knows when to be serious. She has a concerned attitude when it comes to other peoples well being. No one really knows how she got the name Beaner, and she hasn't volunteered any information. She can be sort of sarcastic at times, but in a basically harmless way. She is with Crutchy, and that probably has something to do with her laid back personality.
Irish has long curly red hair, and green eyes. She cares very much about other people. Shes very sweet, and always looks for the good in people. But she can get something of a temper when shes mad. Shes with Blink, and Specs is her older brother. He can be pretty overprotective, and she finds it annoying at times, but she knows he means well.
Quips has curly black hair and no one can tell exactally what color her eyes are.Theyre a mysterious shade of gold with green flecks. Shes sixteen, and about five foot eight. Quips is convinced that the worlds going to hell in a hand basket, and has a very cynical view of most things. She has no pangs of conscience about speaking her mind no matter how strange her ideas or opinions may sound, if it suits her purpose. Shes very intellegent, and can use her smart mouth and twisted logic to get out of almost any situation. She does not consider her past to be of any interest, so she often "improves da truth a liddle" to give her an advantage. In short, shes a manipulative liar with a good heart.
Pup has long white fur. Hes about 150 pounds, and stubborn as anything. He doesn't seem to like Spot too much. What tipped us off, you ask? Well it could be that Pup attempts to attack him every time he enters the room...But at any rate, Pup came to us in pretty bad shape, but we fixed him up ok.
Angelina (Angel) 5'6" dark brown hair, dark brown eyes. Immigrated from Italy after father and brothers killed. Separated from mother at Ellis Island. Has strong ties to anything Italian that reminds her of home- Church, food, music. Outspoken doesn't even begin to describe it. Not in her wildest dreams would she end up with Skittery, but she does. Itey is sort of like a brother.
Sketch has short brown hair, hazel eyes, and is 5'10". She got her name because there is always a sketchbook and pencil in her hand! She is not an official newsie, but shes Jack's cousin, and likes to hang out with the guys. She makes money by selling sketches and penny portraits on the street. She is very easygoing, spontaneous, and she and Specs end up falling for each other.
Cap is very creative and has a knack for storytelling. She may be short, but her Irish temper allows her to hold her own. She's best friends with Sketch. To fit in better, she hides her hair under a cap to look like a boy, which is how she got her name - because she never takes it off. The newsies find out that she's a girl, but they don't care and Cap eventually ends up with David.
Luca is half white, half hispanic. She's tall and has long waist-length black hair, and had long since given up on trying to fit it all in a hat. Strangely, she also has dark green eyes. She has a lot of problems, but shes trying to work them out. Shes got a choice to make and the newsies, are her only hope of going in the right direction. Shes unaccountably drawn to Racetrack.
Dancer is 5'4", small-boned and weighs 106 lbs. She has sandy brown hair that goes to her shoulders. Her eyes are a greyish-blue that usually look sad. Dancer is very dedicated, passionate, hopeful about life and dancing. She's strong and a good fighter even though no one would ever expect it from her. Dancer came from Ireland 2 years ago, when she was 14, with her family. She misses home very much and wishes to go back. The only reason she has stayed in Manhattan is because of Mush, her best friend, who she loves dearly and would never leave.
Hercules is 16, and her real name is Cora Anne Hall (but she goes by Cori). She's of Medium height/build, with shoulder-length dishwater blond hair, green eyes, and a small scar in the middle of left cheek from horsing around with her older brother when she was little. Shes shy at first, which makes people think she's stuck up but she's not. Once she breaks out of her shell she doesn't really care what people think of her and says any crazy thing she wants to. Cori's loyal, but doesn't often show her emotions. She grew up on a small farm in Ohio, moved to New York to live with her great-uncle (Kloppman) after her family was killed in a fire. Education: Attended school in Ohio and for a short time went in New York. Her significant other is Jack.
Charcoal is 15 years old and has moved to New York only a few weeks ago. She has long black hair and brown eyes. Her hands are usually covered in charcoal, which she uses to draw whatever she can find. She has a big ego, and that gets her in trouble with Sketch when she claims to be the "greatest artist this side a Jersey." Really, she wants to get out of America and study art and drawing abroad. Easier said than done.
Seven of Nine- ran away from her uncle to escape an arranged marriage. She became a newsie when the dashing Bumlets offered her as a job as a newsie. She was also given a job as a singer at Irving Hall and sings there every Wednesday night. But Seven met up with the man who wanted to marry her, but Bumlets fought him to let Seven live her own life, and won. Seven has hazel eyes and brown hair with blonde streaks. And, of course, her one true love is Bumlets.
Princess-She is 5'4 with chesnut brown hair that is always in braids. Here eyes are brown with gold flecks. She's always lived among higher society, therefore she doesn't have a strong New York accent. She is kind hearted but also has a strong spirit. She doesn't give up. She has a zest for living.
Muse-Once known as Merlyn Davidson, she has wavy dark blonde hair, usually in a messy braid, blue/green eyes that take in the world with fascination. Her eyes are sometimes covered with reading glasses when she makes her way back from the public library. He nose is usually scrunched up when she is reading or writing, concentrating. He lips are usually smiling with only an occasional frown. She is about 56, medium boned, medium shaped. She will never turn heads, but maybe she will turn hearts. Her gentle and quiet spirit is usually present, with occasional bouts of playfulness. Her temper flares up only when someone else is getting hurt. She never expected someone to like her, much less a merry and mischievous character like Dutchy.
Riff-is 15 years old. Shes short, and has brown har and brown eyes. She also just so happens to be madly in love with Mush!
Oakley-So named for her first name, Annie. At fifteen, she is short, about 52, with mouse brown hair and greenish eyes. She isnt stunning to look at, but once you get to know her, her inner beauty shines through. Her anxiety of taking the first step to get to know a person may make one think she is conceited, but nothing could be farther from the truth. Once she opens up, she never closes. She is from a small town in Western Maine, and life in the Big City does not seem to be all it cracked up to be. Too timid to immediately click with any of the other newsies, she makes her love of performing arts her closest friend. Initially, she shies away from anybody of the opposite gender, but that all changes when she meets fellow performer, Connor Knox.
Ringer- has sparkling blue eyes, light brown hair, and is 5'4" tall.
She came
from the main distribution center in Chicago, but the vice president of
the
World Newspaper branch in the city shipped her off to New York after
some
rabble-rousing. Before her infamy as a newsie, though, she was a
bell-ringer
at boxing matches in the street, which started her name. After an
interesting beginning in New York, she ends up with Oscar Delancey.
