Sgt. David North. He, Creed and Logan were the core of a small hand-picked cadre of agents from different countries sometimes referred to as Team X. North described himself as 'the resident West German freedom fighter'.

Maverick: "For a mutant reknown for his healing power, you're not impressing me! Don't think being beaten nearly to death by Omega Red, having half your blood drained from your body and falling ten stories to the pavement is any excuse." (X-Men, Vol. 1, No. 6 - March 1992)

Logan: "Maverick an' me were part o' a team once... a good one. Trained to know by instinct what the others would do next. Some lessons you just can't unlearn. Maverick's illness slows us up some, but we compensate automatically... no talkin'." (Wolverine, Annual - 1995)

Cray: "Don't mind me asking, but is that short guy on your team walking around on a broken leg?" Maverick: "Yeah, what of it?" Cray: "Hard dude, huh?" Maverick: "You might say that." (Team X/Team 7 - November 1996)

Maverick: "All that happened years ago in Berlin. Before I became Maverick. Before Logan became Wolverine. Before Creed became Sabretooth. Those were some times. We were some team. Here I go again dwelling in the past. I suppose it's only natural though... when you don't have a future. " (Maverick, Vol. 1, No. 1 - January 1997)

Logan: "We were cornered. The leader of the team that nailed us was willing to give Maverick an out of here. Turn Sabretooth and me over to him and he could walk away across the border. Maverick didn't even think. He took some hits himself, but he killed them all and dragged our butts home." Iceman: "So you're telling me he likes you, right?" Logan: "Oh yeah... I'm like a brother to him. One more thing about this little story... the mission we were on was in East Germany. Maverick's native soil. The leader of the team that nailed us... the guy he shot, that was his real brother. And that's the kind of guy Maverick is." (X-Men Unlimited #15 - June 1997)
