THE WEDDING DAYS (1997) back to main
Directed by James Yuen Sai-Sang; starring Charlie Yeung Cho-Nei, Jordan Chan Siu-Chun, Anita Yuen Wing-Yee, Michael "Fitzgerald" Wong Man-Tak, Eric Tsang Chi-Wai, Christine Ng Wing-Mei.
Breezy, sophisticated comedy, the kind of careful and intelligent production we've come to expect from UFO (United Filmmakers' Organization). Fine ensemble cast, with Jordan Chan outstanding as a cuddly wedding photographer. THE WEDDING DAYS is one of those pleasant romantic comedies that never get the attention they deserve, at least not outside of Hong Kong. Directing debut for ace comedy screenwriter Yuen, who co-wrote CHICKEN AND DUCK TALK, HE'S A WOMAN - SHE'S A MAN (with fellow UFO producers Peter Chan and Lee Chi-Ngai), A MOMENT OF ROMANCE and TOM, DICK AND HAIRY.
Charlie Yeung plays the owner of a bridal shop, Anita Yuen her old friend from school who's desperately longing for
marriage.
Jordan Chan is the wedding photographer,
frequently spying on other bridal shops.
Well, sometimes he get caught ...
Jordan is a specialist for hokey wedding
photos, and what could be more hokey than a HK couple imitating Clark Gable
and Vivien Leigh?
I wonder: was the spelling "maginifi cent"
on the original poster, too?
Charlie and Jordan only deal with other
people's weddings, they have no time
for a love life of their own.
What could be more sensible than ...
In a hilarious guest performance,
Eric Tsang plays a shy tailor of wedding gowns. A very shy tailor.
Speaking of wedding gowns:
You can't get more traditional than
Anita Yuen does in this shot, can you?
Michael "Fitzgerald" Wong (not bad in this film, honestly!) and Jordan Chan
at a wedding. But whose wedding?
