| Dare I say it? In many respects, this clone
of Ching Siu-Tung's classic A CHINESE GHOST STORY is better than the original.
The art direction shows a true sense of imagination, the photography is
often breathtaking (and in Scope), and the performers are all at their
very best. A pity the special effects look even cheesier than in Ching's
film. For fans of supernatural martial-arts fantasies with a fixation on
the afterlife, A CHINESE LEGEND is definitely recommended. Colorfully presented,
engagingly told: a beautiful film in the true sense of the term.
NOTE: The DVD (China Star) is without subtitles. |

Some kind of heroic trio: Joey Wong,

Not much love is lost between the

Hey, we know this guy!
Wu Ma, reprising his role from A CHINESE GHOST STORY. Here, he is even better (and considerably less goofy) |

Remember the rules in the book
"Sex and Zen and a Bullet in the Head"? A demon is not really finally dead until it explodes. Is it? |
