Shows that Rule

These are my favorite TV shows.

I also love these shows:

Earth: Final Conflict; Sliders; Millenium; Behind The Music on VH-1; Spiderman; X-Men; and a whole bunch of stuff on Animal Planet (like "Breed All About It"), Discovery Channel, and PBS.

Star Trek: The Next Generation

TNG fave characters: Data, Worf, Ro Laren, Captain Jean-Luc Picard.

TNG fave episodes (in no particular order):

"The Measure of a Man"; "Remember Me"; "Cause and Effect"; "The Inner Light"; "Ensign Ro"; "Tapestry"; "Sub Rosa"; "The Defector"; "A Matter of Perspective"; "The Offspring"; "The Outcast"; "Reunion"; "The Drumhead"; "Violations"; "Ethics"; "Schisms"; "Phantasms"; "Dark Page"; "Eye of the Beholder"; "Preemptive Strike".

Star Trek Deep Space Nine

Fave DS9 Characters: a whole bunch... Ben Sisko, Kira Nerys, Odo, Worf, Jadzia Dax, Ezri Dax, Garak!

Fave DS9 episodes (in order):

"Far Beyond The Stars"; "Emissary, Part I & II"; "The Forsaken"; "Captive Pursuit"; The entire last season (with the exception of "What You Leave Behind"), especially "Tacking Into The Wind", where Worf kills Gowron. Intense!

Star Trek Deep Space Nine

Fave Voyager characters: Capt. Janeway, Seven of Nine, Tuvok, B'Elanna.

Fave Voyager episodes:

I know many people don't have much positive stuff to say about this series, but I think Voyager is like a fine wine; it improves with age. I haven't seen several of the first few seasons' episodes, but I can name several fine ones recently aired: "Gravity"; "Course: Oblivion"; "Dark Frontier"; "Drone"; "Unforgettable"; "In The Flesh"; "Barge of the Dead"; "Bliss". I personally feel that the addition of the character Seven of Nine (played exquisitely by Jeri Ryan) has taken the dramatic impact and quality of this show to a new level.

I love watching Voyager because the episodes consistently have plot lines that make me think and feel, like the finest moments of TNG and DS9 (see episodes above for prime examples). It seems like every month there is at least one episode that kicks my butt. The characters have depth, and the stories told and lessons shown are high-caliber. There are also numerous examples of powerful, moving, thought-provoking dialogue.

This is one of the best shows on TV today, no matter what any Voyager-basher says. This show helps me to examine myself, my life, my feelings, and my perspective on things. "Drone" made me cry; "Bliss" made me think; "Gravity" made me feel sad and wistful, etc. This show stimulates the imagination. And that is what television ought to be about... not the latest hyped example of degrading, pitiful, ape antics of the loathesome idiots on Jerry Springer and Jenny Jones!
