I need to get this off my chest...

I can't take it any longer. I can't believe I did it, but I need to confess. Ok, here goes.....

I listened to the other station for a whole weekend.

I KNOW!! I KNOW!! But let me explain!...

Ok, for the Independance Day Weekend, they were doing this all-request weekend thing that NO station in this area EVER does (hint hint hint AAF people...) and there's this wicked cool song called I Get High by DaDa that came out like, four or five years ago that's just so awesome and I knew that they had it because I used to listen to that station (that was years ago). I couldn't give up the chance to hear the song, so I had to betray my beloved WAAF. But there is a redeeming factor here!!

Alright, I called the first time at around 11:30a or so and Melissa was in (luckily I didn't have to talk to Fat Nik Farter once all day) but she was at the end of her shift so she said she'd pass my request on to the next DJ, Juanita. I must admit, Melissa was very nice and polite. I barely remembered how much I can't stand her voice. Anyway, Juanita came in and I thought it would be smart to call her myself instead of trusting Melissa to get my request through. So I called. She said she's play it...she even took my name and city and everything so I was all happy and everything cause that usually means they're gonna mention you on the air. Well, I was gonna tape the song anyway but now I had another reason to have my finger set to the 'record' button at the beginning and ending of each song. So I waited...and waited...and waited...FOR THREE HOURS- the entire time that Miss Juanita was on the air and SHE DIDN'T PLAY IT!! I was so mad! Around like, 5:30p I decided to call again to ask her what had happened (I'm an understanding person- I thought maybe she couldn't find the song or something) but of course, I never got to her. I was very disappointed because all throughout the time I loyally listened to that station, Juanita was always my favorite DJ and she had failed me. Anyway, I thought I'd try again with the next DJ, Albert O. So I called and I didn't get through. Still frustrated from my past attempts with Juanita, I figured he wasn't gonna answer the phones either (which was dumb cause he had to pick them up to get requests...ANYWAY). After like 6 tries or so, I got through and I was happy. I asked for the song and he actually looked for it and told me when it would be on the air. No one ever does that! I was ecstatic. So I waited through the three songs that he said would play before mine and then he started talking. I was hoping he wouldn't play commercials, and he didn't, and he even mentioned me on the air (kind of) so I was happy. Then the song came on and it was even better than I'd remembered! So besides Albert O. (who is, by the way, my new favorite BCN DJ) everyone on BCN kinda sucks...well no, only Fat Nik Farter...the others were nice.

Another reason why Albert O. is so cool...when I was calling Juanita to ask what had happened to DaDa, I decided to ask for Ocean by Sebadoh if she couldn't find the DaDa tape or something. Sebadoh's a cool band and I like hearing them. Anyway, the second song Albert O. played in Nocturnal Admissions was a Sebadoh song and that just makes him that much cooler! Props to him...

I'll put ALbert O. talking and a clip of the song up onto this page as soon as I figure out how. So come back every once in a while to see if I put it up yet.

I also realized that BCN isn't that bad. I still like AAF's choice of music better, and I thought it was funny that BCN said that the Beastie Boys' "Remote Control" and Kid Rock's "Bawitdabaw" were new songs when AAF's been playing them both forever, but still, BCN's not that bad. Except Fat Nik Farter- he'll always suck!

Ok, so I've got another story to add and this is like a year after I put up the last one...so I went to RiverRave 2000 and it was soooo awesome (Eve6 and STP were incredible). Anyway, the next weekend, BCN did a treasure chest weekend thing and they played songs recorded live from the show along w/clips from interviews with the bands. So I was listening and I heard one of the guys from Filter say a really good quote and I wanted to quote him for my webpage. I wrote it down but I didn't know the guys name so I called in the next day and got through to Juanita. She was wicked nice about it and she went through all of the Filter interview clips (of course the one I wanted was the last one) and found what I was looking for. She had to like go out of her way and find it and that was so nice (try to tell me that someone on AAF would do that...). So anyway I'm trying to figure out if AAF is really as good as I thought it was...what do you think? Which station is better?
