Eyeglasses in PSP 7

27

This is done in PSP 7 and I used Blade Pro Presets. You don't have to use the presets if you don't want to. I use alot of illustrations so that the new people will understand how to do them.
Open up a new image by going to File/New using the following settings. Click on ok.
1

Add a new layer by going to layers/new rastor layer. Click on ok.
2

Choose your preset shapes tool.
3

You can choose any shape you want for your lens frame. I chose the octagon. Your line width should be 4.
5

On your color palette, your stroke color should be the color of your frames, or you can use white and then use a blade pro preset. I used white on mine. The fill color should br null, as in the following picture.
4

Draw your shape. I used a colored background so you can see the white easier, but it should be done on a transparent background.
6

Click on the deformation tool.
7

Holding down the CTRL key, Go to the left middle square and just scoot it back a little. You can see how much I did mine. Then you can double click and the deformation will be done. If you don't like the way it looks, just undo it and then do it until it is where you want it.I put the pictures side by side so you can see how much it was moved.
8

Copy the shape using CTRL C or by going to Edit/Copy. Then paste it as a new layer by using CTRL L or by going to Edit/Paste as a new layer. Position the copy by the other lens so that it looks kind of like mine. Remember to leave the space between the frames for the nose piece.
9

Add a new layer by going to layers/new rastor layer. Click on ok.
2

Now pick your draw tool.
10

Use the following settings in the tool options palette.
11

Draw your line between the frame parts and then you have to click just slightly above it in about the middle, twice.
12

Add a new layer by going to layers/new rastor layer. Click on ok.
2

Draw a line back with the draw tool using the same settings as before and then click twice above the line a little way. Right about where I put the spot.
14

Copy the shape using CTRL C or by going to Edit/Copy. Then paste it as a new layer by using CTRL L or by going to Edit/Paste as a new layer. Position it on the other side of the frame.
13

Now go to the layers palette and put an X on any of the layers that are not part of the frame.
15

Go to layers/Merge/Merge visible layers.
16

Now use the magic wand if you are going to add a blade pro preset.
17

Click on the frame and it will have the marching ants around it. Go to your blade pro and use whatever preset you want. I used gold basic. Click on CTRL D or go to selections/select none.
18

Now you can save these as just the frames if you want to. You can save them as a .psp file or you can save them as a tube. I'll go on to show you how to add the lens. You can also add a drop shadow if you like. I will show how to do this after the lens part.

Now use the magic wand.
17

Click the inside of the frame where the lens should be. Hold your shift key down and you should be able to choose both of the lens area if you want to do them at the same time. That will depend on the gradient you decide to use. Go to Selections/Modify/Expand. When the box opens up, put in a 2 and click on ok.
19

Now choose the floodfill bucket.
21

Now on your color palette, you will have to choose the gradient fill. I choose metallic for mine.
23

Use your flood fill and fill the lens with the metallic. Go to Selections/Select None. Your glasses should look like this.
24

We will add a drop shadow now, by going to Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow.
25

Use the following settings. If you don't like the drop shadow used, just play around with the numbers and find something you like.
26

Well, you are done and ready to save them as a .psp, a tube or you can save them as a .jpg. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to email me.
