Renegade
Funktrain, an Austrailian grown, London based, European band with a touch
of Hip-Hop, rap, soul, funk and jazz, was formed from the unfortunate break
up of Australian Hip-Hop funk band,
in
early 1994 after cutting their debut album
"A
Postcard From The Edge Of The Underside".
Sound
Unlimited consisting of Rosano (El Assassin), Tina, Alan Kode Blue and
DJ BTL Vlad. A new member, Sound Unlimited met Derek Antunes when Sound
Unlimited were a supporting band for the New Kids On The Block when they
came to Sydney for their 1992 world wide tour. Derek eventually returned
to Australia to join Sound Unlimited with his percussion and drumming,
session musician and sound engineering skills and help them cut the album
and eventually married lead singer, Tina.
After
the demise of Sound Unlimited, brother and sister Rosano and Tina Martinez
stayed faithful to their distinctive hybrid sound, forming Renegade Funktrain.
Part of Renegade Funktrain's new sound came from the addition from musician,
production experienced and husband of Tina, Derek Antunes, former drummer
of New Kids On The Block.
So
the cult Of Sydney Hip-Hop went on and eventually after months of preperation
and recruiting of band members, Derek (who produced the album), Rosano
and Tina with the new band members formed Renegade Funktrain with the aim
of hopefully creating something totally original. So Renegade Funktrain
released their debut single
"Testify".
After
that Renegade was Renegade, earning an Australian top 10 place for "I Wonder"
and cutting the self titled, debut album
"Renegade
Funktrain"

Renegade
Funktrain's image is headed by former NKOTB drummer Derek Antunes as the
drummer, the team:- Rosano Martinez as lead singer and rapper, Tina Martinez
as lead singer, Juan Gonzalez on guitar, Adam Dehnen on bass, DMC champion
Brian (DJ ASK) Patrik on the turntables, and Remesh Sathiah (Who also engineered,
mixed and co-produced the album with Derek, tina and Rosano) on keyboards:-
let loose an array of irrisistible grooves influenced by their mutual admiration
for bands such as the Young Deciples, the Brand New Heavies, Omar, Nas,
2 Pac and many more.
