Numanarchist's
Armchair Expert Reviews

HYBRID

So what have the latest band of "influencial artists" managed to do with Numan's back catalogue? After patchy efforts from TechnoArmy and the various people involved on Random, not to mention the dire event that was Random 2, I didn't let the excitement get to me too much. In fact, I forgot it was out until I read it on Rob's AFEnet site on the Monday morning...

Gary is mentioned in a programme about The Human League. Find out what was said...

SMASH! THE HUMAN LEAGUE STORY
RIP SINGLE
The first single release from Gary Numan in ages gets a listen. Unfortunately there are no new tracks, but some old favorites are given new treatments and there is a video included - Numan's first in this format.
A review of the Pure Tour as seen at Manchester Academy on 21st February 2001 by the Numanarchist and the original Mike R. Slides. How many new album songs did he do? Which old stuff did he treat us to? And of course, the burning question, was he any good? Find out here...
Review of Pure "Pure" - Gary Numan's latest album gets the swivel chair treatment from the Numanarchist, but does it get the thumbs-up?
Find out here in this extensive review. (Of course, by "extensive", I just mean that I babble on for absolutely ages! So much so that it's on a few different pages, the last one being the longest in case you get bored...

"A Prayer For The Unborn" came out on a Future Music magazine cover CD.
I didn't bother to wait for the full album to come out before making my feelings known. After all, how was I to know that the album would definitely come out...?

PRAYER
KOOCHY "Koochy" of course, isn't strictly speaking a Gary Numan song. However, it is of interest to some fans and saw Gary get his highest chart position for some considerable time. With this in mind, I was glad to have the assistance of my part-time Armchair Expert once again. Steve has done the review here, so this time you can't blame me for it!
(By the way - I don't like the track, in case you were wondering)
The Manchester Academy, November 1999. The first time I had seen Gary in concert for over two years. Was this "one-off" an "off-one" as some of the other recent shows had been, according to certain people?
See what me and Mike R. Slides thought of it...
Review of show
RUBATO "Replicas Rubato" by Terre Thaemlitz is given the once over by special guest reviewer Steve. I'm really grateful to Steve for adding his input to the site. It's probably the best written section of the whole site! Well, it makes a change for you to read someone else's opinions rather than mine all the time. Anytime you want to do more Steve...
The Exile Tour at Southport, November 1997.
A band of roaming Numanarchists, an unloaded camera, and a hell of a time finding a place to park! But what was the show like? Find out here.
EXILE
Review of Exile Album "Exile". Gary's 1997 album was three years in the making. Was it worth the wait? How the heck should I know? I'm not a musician! Anyway, you can read my personal opinion of it here. I haven't nicked the "Star Trek" font though...
The Premier Hits Tour was the tour that should have been the Exile Tour. Of course, that old chestnut "Cars" was re-re-re-released and all the hoo-haa that went with it meant we had to wait another 18 months for that one. At least Gary saw fit to do a few of the newer songs that he had done to give us a bit of what we all wanted, which was nice... PREMIER
